I was mesmerized by what he was talking about. I’m an elite former tennis player with minimal understanding of golf mechanics. I can’t wait to see how it evolves and your genius thrown in with it.

Hi Matt, Believe it or not..but the action of the ball toss preparatory to a serve in Tennis is the stretch loading process Martin applies in his Golf Swing.. Sam Snead had an illustration of a tennis player serving in his book to illustrate what he felt in his golf swing . cheers JH

Hi Matt, I'm back with something 'entirely different'.. the swing process Martin Ayers is teaching me is a Quantum mechanics leap from conventional swing mechanics methodology. I'm being taken in a direction I have never been before.. not remotely.. I think in a couple of weeks I will have something to present to everyone that is really something . The Davinci Code swing .. and the Channel Lock swing are the best swings I can come up with.. but the new Martin Ayers swing process is a massive step in another direction altogether.. cheers JH

nothing surprises me with golf swing. aaa. it is so lrustrating. yesterday i had guys coming up to me asking to copy my tempo and today i stunk again and went from freddy couple to freddy shmuples. I can't remember how i make my movements. i hadn't played in years so hopefully watching your stuff again will help me figure out the motion that works for me. i thought the dr kwon flow stuff combined with trying to do reverse pivot with weight going to heals with a trevino feeling was the trick but i couldn't recreate it. thanks a lot JH . started watching your new Martin stuff. interesting timing that right when i"m getting back into golf and came across old Martin stuff, you have begun your new experiments with him. best Matt

Hi Matt, I know what you experienced with your 'Swing of the Gods' on day.. and the 'swing of drunk lumberjack' the next day .. and almost every other Golfer has experienced the same situation occurring. I truly believe the swing process Martin Ayers has developed can eliminate the inconsistency the Golf Swing bestows upon us so regularly. The great thing about Marty's swing methodology is that you only have to concern yourself with setting the golf swing up at 'address'.. once you do that the rest of the Golf swing is an 'autopilot' process. The address mechanism preordains the entire rest of the Golf Swing... the only thinking you have to do in the entire golf swing is at 'address'.. get that part of the swing correct.. and the swing is a done deal.. sounds too easy I know.. but it isn't.. and I will prove that in the coming weeks. cheers JH

Marty's Docf has evolved a lot in the last few years. I have with the program a long time and recall the the fun videos you and Marty used to do..like him using Hogans persimmon driver. I believe Marty did mention once the reason he coined "twirl" tag line was because Elk wanted some marketing spin. in his current teaching I don't even know where it is buried lol..essentially it is just one of the cogs I the wheels that makes diff work so well.

There has been some evolvement in the last few years I believe... I have been out of touch with Marty and the process so I don't know what the current state of the process is..hopefully Marty and I can get together soon and give a heads up to people. cheers JH

I've been playing with this swing for the last few days after finding that outstanding video that you and Marty made. I found it has pro's and cons just like any swing. The single motion action that's always accelerating produces a whipping action that hits the ball further than any swing I've ever tried. I could get it to work well with SW and PW. As the clubs became longer the more I struggled to control the action. The longest iron I tried was a 5 iron and by the time the club got up to head level it was just moving around too fast for me to control and bring back squarely to the ball. It seems to me this move may be for more advanced and athletic golfers who want more power.

When I was first exposed to the action I had similar problems with the longer clubs but only for few minutes until I just made sure I gave the club lots of time to set itself on the back swing and just ' made sure I sat' into the downswing very deliberately.. generally speaking I just slowed everything down to a controllable rate so I could give the body components time to build the containment and maintain it coming down to impact... cheers Jh

I'll have to try letting the club settle more at the top which is what I hear you saying. The other problem I have with the long irons is that the takeaway action of this swing puts me on too steep of a plane and the center of that plane is too low down my spine. I have to find a way to get that plane both flatter and higher up my spine to avoid hitting long irons fat. Thanks for your suggestions!

I did a video yesterday which might help you with the steepness of the downswing...its about firing the club away from you coming down... its called.... 'Back Loading And The Dump' and how to get it....it will be up on the channel in a few hours ... cheers JH

I find it really interesting how you mentioned that Marty "feels" like he is hitting the ball with the back of the club, because when I played around with the DOCF stuff I felt the same way with unbelievable results. It's the only swing motion I've ever had where there was so much torque and spring in the shaft that it felt like a slack rope bending around me and it gave me the time I needed to where I could really hammer the ball. I may revisit this again myself. I got away from it because I couldn't hit anything but a big sweeping draw, and the distance was borderline too much hahaha. It's an impressive sight at the range to carry a 7 iron 190+ yards, but not so practical on the course. Thanks for revisiting this!

Martin has evolved the system significantly as I understand it and I am trying to organise a hook up with him to do a video giving the lowdown on the process as it it these days. I never had the extreme shot shape when I was trying the system ...in fact I hit the ball ridiculously straight because the club just found its own way back to the ball every time with no assist from me ... I also got a distance increase but not like you experienced .. but hey if you could hit 190 7 irons ( which Martin does to) is that not a big advantage...has to be easier than hitting a 190 6 iron ..'unless'.. the 190 7 iron just happens when you only wanted to hit it 165/170 ..lol. I think really the Bazooka distances are only a by product of the increased storage capability of the swing mechanics that we haven't used before ... you can get the distances under control with practice....for someone like me at my age to get distance increases of significance is a real plus...just in that video of yesterday I was absolutely airmailing those irons and the Driver was ballistic compared to my normal ball speed . So all in all I truly believe the system is ..'The most Powerful Move In Golf' and it definitely warrants a revisit for sure. cheers JH.

I agree with you Jh, it is definitely extremely powerful. It's the only move where you can feel all of that stored energy at the top of the swing waiting and wanting to hammer on the ball. I'll try it out again at the range today. If you guys do another video together, I'd love to get some more clarification on what he meant by "containing the handle". Good stuff, thanks again!
@1atomicgolf

Marty had a great saying about the containment ...he said once you create the containment going back you never ever 'think' of giving it up at anytime in the swing' ... that being you keep winding the containment in all the way through the downswing... ... the containment has to release itself by natural exerted forces ..you never help that process. cheers JH

Hi Matt, That video was done with the limited knowledge I had at the time.. now I am involved in a collaborative project with Martin Ayers to present that old swing story process in a finished understanding model. I am now getting personally schooled by Martin in the 'absolutes' of the swing methodology.. and its been a true eye-opener.. absolutely no question the swing process will be put into service after my schooling by Martin is completed.. the swing is amazing.. The swing is a contrived process initially in its learning phase for sure.. however, once you 'truly' understand the contrivance.. it's not a contrivance anymore. cheers JH

I am trying to get a reunion video done with Marty on his latest iteration of his swing process.. we havent seen each other for quite a while so it would be fun just to catch up again for a general chin wag... sent Marty an email this morning to see how he is placed for doing a video together ....we used to have so much fun doing radical stuff with golf club specs as well.. Marty uses the stiffest irons of all time ( well he used to a few years back anyway) ... like X300 Dynamic Gold tipped as much as he could...came out like x500.. I could hit a 7 iron in his clubs about 120 yrds ...and if I miss hit them it nearly knocked my teeth out with the vibrations... and he had his irons 7 degs flat at one time... his driver was 43.5 inches ...maybe still is... and the shaft was around 305 cpm ... it was crazy times but enormously good fun. cheers Jh

I was watching one of Martin's old "Left axis to target" videos (link below) and saw what appears to be a similarity to Lee Comeaux's downswing action. I'm specifically talking about what Martin says at 1:53 ... "If I do the timing of the upper right axis coming out and over the ball, I always hit the ball dead straight. It feels like you're going to hit it left but that's actually about the only thing you can't do for some reason." kzitem.info/news/bejne/2qGd2GiCsqxkp4o

@1atomicgolf
5 жыл бұрын
Two reasons for that .. at the time I did that video I was 76 years old...78 in a couple of months .. and I am an accuracy based swinger of the golf club .. as well because my backswing is short I never get the club off plane in the downswing .. coming over the ball is totally eliminated in my type of swing mechanics ..I may swing short but I save a lot of money by not losing golf balls .. I must admit I did lose 'one' in 1986 ..but it was a bad bounce.. not a bad swing .. cheers JH
