One of my absolute favorite sketches of all time. The look Jerry gets when they are singing 'Side by Side' and he sings that line: "But after the war." is priceless. Absolute genius.

Great team. Lewis wrote all those amazing sketches. What a comedic mind. But Dean Martin has to be one of the most underrated straight men. He was great as well.

This is a different side of the Martin and Lewis act that we never see in the movies being its more focused on the two of them and their comic style with Jerry and Dean evolving into a happy ending

For the first roughly four minutes, there is almost no talking. It almost seems like Jerry is doing a Harpo Marx impersonation. Harpo may have been his main reference point for silent comedy.

Everything they did was magic. I'm guessing this happened right before the breakup. Jerry's face and body started to fill in. He was no longer the skinny kid. If anybody could tell me what year this was I'd appreciate it. I'm figuring 1956. Sinatra's contribution made this a classic.

@@kellycaviness4850 Kelly, you're so right - very observant!. Edward R. Murrow used to Interview high profile people in their homes. Dean Martin and his family were one of the interviews. This was roughly 2 years after the Martin-Lewis breakup (It's available on KZitem). Murrow asked Dean, what do you consider to be the greatest thing that happened in your life. Dean replied, "Meeting Jerry Lewis."

Doug McBroom, l do not think Jerry ever believed that. He could be arrogant, but he always understood that together he and Dean had something very special that neither of them had alone. Many things he said over a period of decades support this view.

@@kellycaviness4850 I do hope that’s you being sarcastic‼️ Otherwise, I have to question your grip on reality. Lewis never gave Dean credit until after Dean died and Lewis knew he had to say nice things or get roasted by public opinion‼️

@@Djm8520 Jerry always took the blame for their breakup and he never saiid a bad word about Dean but Dean surely said alot about Jerry. He couldn't keep his name out of his mouth. Dean's the one who chased Jerry around years after the breakup like an obsession and so many times on his show or a concert, Jerry's name rolls off his tongue. Remember the telethon in '76? Dean didn't have to do that. He wanted to.. my grip on reality is fine btw. And like I said, Jerry gave Dean the credit. It's very well documented

@@kellycaviness4850 Lady, you’re trying to rewrite history. Lewis never said a good word about Dean until AFTER Dean died. That’s because he knew the public would turn on him. So suddenly, Dean was great! Lewis never did anything that wasn’t self-serving for Lewis. So take your nonsense to someone who doesn’t know the facts‼️
