Theres no wood in HPL, its similar to counter top made of resin and highly water resistant, also very durable and humidity heat and cold don't mess with it, great tuning stability and rings great. Not quite carbon fiber but close. Cheers

Thanks! I had a feeling it was more glue than anything else lol. It didn't sound as good as wood but definitely didn't sound bad. And it's probably indestructible. I think it has a place.

Hpl is not plywood, maan. It resonates much better and is extremely durable

I agree that hpl is not the same as the plywood one might buy at the lumber yard, but I think for regular people it's a close enough approximation. Also this is a clip, in the full video that I did on this guitar I explain that it sounds like a really great sounding hpl guitar... But let's not pretend Martin didn't put "Koa" on the tag in the hopes that some people were going to be gullible enough to think the thing was actually made of wood. They are definitely preying on the negligence and stupidity of some people in marketing this guitar.

I think at that price point the guitar sounds pretty decent. It's very difficult at that price point to get something that sounds great. But I thought the guitar sounded like it had more bass than guitars in that price range. It's kind of a strange flat-based sound but at least it's something. And it makes sense for them to engineer HPL so they can tune the guitar body so that it sounds close to a real Martin.

I agree it's pretty great. The engineering of it, especially the brake angles of the strings, the saddle, the bridge, all that stuff that really is the most important thing for tone, All that stuff is great. This is a clip from a longer video, and in that video I can included that it sounds like a pretty great HPL guitar. I think it's overpriced because you can get solid tops or even all solid wood for a lot less than this these days, and it's normal for the engineering to be right on entry level guitars these days as well. When I played it felt nothing like a real Martin. You could definitely gig this thing though.

@@BillySoundFarm Yes, I think something like a Yamaha FG830 would sound more like a normal guitar. That is what I usually recommend to people.

@@valueofnothing2487 I love that guitar on paper, I even love the way it sounds, but when I've played them it was like, "I don't love this and I don't know why"... Weird right?
