I somehow feel that this video is a tribute to Marty's parents. I'm very sure they played a big part to Marty too, look how happy he was as a kid :) If Marty was born in Hong Kong, what would happen? He will have helicopter parents who would keep questioning him what's the point of playing guitar and will "make sure" he uses his time "wise" to get all the As in school and be good at math. How do I know? I am from Hong Kong and I played guitar. So thank you Mr and Mrs Friedman for supporting Marty and for allowing greatness to happen!

@playloud247
6 жыл бұрын
On the flip side, imagine if parents enable the delusion of their child to become a guitar virtuoso in a saturated market where it is hard to set foot in the door without knowing people in the industry. Imagine that kid growing up and later on struggling to survive, earning barely minimum wage teaching music, succumbing to depression, etc. Is that really a better life? It's easy to forget just how ruthlessly competitive the music industry is, and how many millions of people (among which are musical geniuses) try to make it and fail. You'd be better off swallowing your pride, and following your parents' advice of becoming a doctor or a skilled technician. You can always play some guitar if you have an hour or so of free time and if it makes you feel good. Otherwise it is a waste of time.

I wouldn't say that. I think its the other way around. Most of cacophony's music was written by marty. And if you watch their jams marty was spontaneous in making melodies like this while jason was the technician. --->kzitem.info/news/bejne/tphvuoFnm6hmemk. and if you watch jason's videos before cacophony he was more of a fast player but after cacophony he had many melodies like this. So its the other way around.

It's the other way around. Marty was the mentor and Jason learned from him.

I meant that music with this kind of melodies were originally Marty's style. Marty influenced jason becker on the melodic and bend department. And btw boy meets guitar proves it that jason was the technician. I have heard it in marty's interviews. because the story goes like this, Marty was about to release his own album when mike varney suggested for marty to collab with jason, and marty said "he played my materials cleaner and better". you can see it here that Marty composed most of cacophonys first album ----> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speed_Metal_Symphony. Ofcourse marty also learned from jason, when you are collaborating there's mutual learning but I do believe that if not for marty jason would have been just another shredder.
