I'm Steve Swindells and I wrote this song and also played keyboards on it at The Who's Rampart Studio when Roger Recorded it. I think it was 1983. You can find my original version on my 'The Lost Albums' on Spotify etc. I recorded them in 1980 with Simon Townshend (now playing with The Who) on guitar and the awesome Big Country (also Live Aid later) rhythm section. They were finally released on Flicknife Records in 2012.

I first heard this song on an album I borrowed from the library in the very early eighties. The album was called 'Best Bits' was was deleted not many years after that. I then searched the four corners of the earth searching for a second-hand copy of the album. When in 1997 a CD came out titled 'Martyrs & Madman' I thought I finally had it, but bizarrely that album didn't feature the title track. Eventually in 2005 a CD compilation album called 'Moonlighting' was released and I finally got hold of the song. But now due to the magic of the internet all I have to do is do a youtube search and up it comes. The internet is an amazingly magical thing. Thanks for posting.

@@philipparsons7364 I wrote it, of course, and also played keys on this version, which I think is kind-of over-produced.

I think this is one of his best solo songs. It would have been nice to hear a live version either with his solo band or with The Who.

This track wouldn't have been out of place in the Mcvicar movie soundtrack. Or the 'Under A Raging Moon album.
