Wanda saying “I just did.” After Ultron telling her she would die if she stayed was so powerful to me. Her brother was ALL she had up to that point, both of their powers came from the mind stone. Just like with Vision, she could probably feel connected to him, and so when Pietro died, Wanda couldn’t feel that connection anymore. It’s so horrible that he had to die, and it obviously impacted Wanda’s (and Clint’s) character greatly

Quicksilver was not actually killed by Ultron…he was killed by the lawyers. Wanda and Pietro are actually mutants, as seen In the X-Men series. (Pietro has actually been on mutant-focused teams in the comics.) But they are also primary Avengers, among the first to join after the original team. Unfortunately for Marvel, when they were going through a bankruptcy in the 1990s (they had overreacted to a surge in demand, and found themselves with crippling debt), they had to sell off the movie rights to some of their properties. And so the X-Men (and other characters) wound up at FOX. (And Spider-Man was at Columbia, and there was a long-standing deal with Universal for the Hulk, going back to the TV series in the 1980s. Because of the long relationship, it was relatively easy to be able to use the Hulk for these movies, but the others were more difficult.) Worse for Disney/Marvel, it wasn't just the X-Men, but the entire concept of genetic mutation that had been included in FOX's rights deal. So being able to use any mutant characters here is very difficult. Eventually, a compromise was reached; FOX gets Pietro and Disney gets Wanda. So he only appears here to be killed off. Which is a pity, as I quite enjoyed Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the role. Of course, nowadays Disney and FOX have merged, so this whole problem is of the past. And Pietro died for no reason. I guess they didn't see that coming?

we have a good new york style pizza in the san francisco area, Arinells. been around since at least 1975. i cant compare, but it does feel authentic. back before anyone was in on the secret. love this film, for introducing Vision, and having Wanda become a hero. iloved those characters when i read comics in teh 70s. they were always core Avengers back then, particularly since the other avengers had their own books, so we could always get a dose of them, but these 2 never were that popular. this film made these 2 c or even d list marvel herooes superstars. this film has a lot of connections to future stories, which takes away from it as its own story, but i still love it for that mix anyway.

Funny thing about the Pietro, the brother of the twins, is that while Marvel the movie studio is making the MCU films based on the Marvel Comics, Marvel the company sold off the film rights to a number of their comic characters back in the 90s, so even though these films were being made, other companies were also making Marvel films that existed separately from the MCU. Sony makes Spider-Man films and Fox made both the Fantastic Four and X-Men films. The interesting thing about Pietro is that the rights to his character were in a bit of a murky grey area, so what ended up happening is that both Fox and the MCU ended up using the character in their own movies, both releasing in the same year. So while we got Pietro Maximoff here played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson with his sister Wanda, over in the X-Men films, we got *Peter* Maximoff played by Evan Peters. (Also funny is that in the first two Fantastic Four films that Fox made, Chris Evans aka Captain America, played the brash, upstart Human Torch character) In fact, if you'd like to draw out your Marvel journey, instead of doing solely MCU films every Monday, you could alternate with the X-Men films by Fox and the Spider-Man Films by Sony every other week. So like MCU, X-Men, MCU, Spider-Man, MCU, X-Men, MCU, Spider-Man, etc. Could be fun.

The giant creature at the base was one of the ones from the first Avengers movies It’s been said that perhaps Cap didn’t want to make Thor feel bad and pretended like he couldn’t lift the hammer. It is still hotly debated whether Vision is actually worthy to lift mjolnir. Like Tony and Cap were arguing, he’s essentially an advanced machine, not an organic person, so he might not be restricted by the enchantment. Personally, I’m pretty sure the movie is telling us he is, because it’s a surprise and it happens when it’s being questioned whether we can trust him. Surely somone who could lift the hammer is trustworhty, right. Shirley agrees, right? The guy in the credit scene was Thanos, a titan, who you saw in the first credit scene of the first Avengers, and in Guardians. The adoptive father of Gamora and Nebula.

Great reaction. First off, the guy in the end credits is Thanos. As soon as the “Infinity Stones” were revealed every comic fan knew he’d show up. Second, IMO Wanda Maximoff has the best character arc that spans the MCU. I’m not saying Tony’s wasn’t, everyone. Tony was different as soon as he walked out of that cave. Wanda has a longer journey. Third, Steve’s vision is a PTSD triggering nightmare! As he walks through the bomb like flashes of the old cameras, to the person cleaning wine off another that really looks like someone in pain and bleeding, and finally ending at Peggy. Wow… Finally, somehow they made Clint even more relatable and human. At the same time showing us he earned a place on the team.

Family Man Hawkeye is so different from the comics, but Joss Whedon (and Jeremy Renner and Linda Cardellini) really make it work. And it's a nice call back when Cap and Clint and the twins are the ones dealing with the ancillary Ultrons (Thor/Iron Man/Vision fighting the main guy), because that was the second Avengers team ever, and fondly remembered. I honestly think Natasha is just playing Banner all the way through. She's good at that. It's clear that's what Banner/Hulk thinks, which is why he doesn't listen to her at the end. One of the great pleasures of Whedon's Avengers films is the character work done not just on Banner, but on the Hulk…HE saves Tony in the first film, he's overcome by guilt after Wanda sends him on the rampage here, he makes the moral choice not to be a weapon that Natasha can just turn on and off like a light switch…and he can fly a plane! Not just a big green beast, no matter how people see him. I also really love the characterization of Thor at the end; calm and confident and ready to take on the challenge of the Infinity Stones despite everything he's been through. A very mature hero.

Hey, Caroline! "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is a massive film. It brings everything that precedes it together and launches the MCU into six new directions going forward while introducing eight new characters! The catalyst for all this change is a classic Avengers villain of their own making: the artificial intelligence known as Ultron bent on the extermination of organic life! The film loosely draws from the Avengers stories "Behold the Vision" and "Ultron Unlimited" with the key difference being that Ultron's creator was changed from Hank Pym aka Ant-Man in the comics to Tony Stark in the MCU. Director of "The Avengers", Joss Whedon, returns and very nearly succeeds at keeping all the plates spinning for this encore. He skillfully globetrots from New York to Johannesburg to Seoul to fictitious Sokovia in Eastern Europe for the breathless, apocalyptic climax! During an early scene of camaraderie, Whedon invites the audience to revel in the shared humanity of these larger-than-life figures while, in a later hallucinatory sequence, he exposes their inner frailties to us nearly shattering the team. It is this attention to character that invests us in the spectacle which Whedon provides in abundance with set pieces like the punishing Hulkbuster throwdown in Jo-burg, the exhilarating car chase and runaway train in Seoul, and the all-hands-on-deck, race-against-the-clock Battle of Sokovia on a floating chunk of continental Europe against rampaging robotic legions! Whedon even provides two team slow-motion money shots to bookend the film. The connective tissue is thick in this lynchpin chapter of the saga which has ties to six future stories: "Captain America: Civil War", "Black Widow", "Black Panther", "Thor: Ragnarok", "Avengers: Infinity War" and "WandaVision"! With so much happening, it is inevitable that certain elements get short shrift such as the Thor subplot while others remain questionable choices like the Hulk's romance with Natasha. That pairing is pure MCU and was never part of their comic history. One plot element that was drawn from Marvel's secondary Ultimate Universe was Hawkeye's secret family. In the original 616 Universe, Clint was an incorrigible tomcat who has bagged practically every female Avenger! Lol. It is also Hawkeye who gets, arguably, the best moment in the film when he delivers the greatest motivational speech ever in the heat of battle. The cast is appropriately huge and pulls from all the franchises to date. Robert Downey, Jr. returns as Tony Stark aka Iron Man with Don Cheadle as Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes aka War Machine and Paul Bettany as JARVIS who undergoes a major transformation becoming The Vision. A combination of synthetic organic components and inorganic vibranium controlled by an intellect that is part JARVIS, part Ultron and part Infinity Stone, he emerges as a mysterious and powerful presence sired by a villain yet capable of effortlessly lifting Mjolnir. The trope of an alien outsider who aspires to humanity is an old one but Bettany breathes fresh life into it with quiet thoughtfulness. Substituting JARVIS, Tony's new A.I., FRIDAY, is voiced by Kerry Condon. Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers aka Captain America with Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson aka Falcon and Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter who appears in a vision. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor Odinson aka Thor to portray the character in a straightforward manner for the last time. He is joined by Stellan Skarsgard as Dr. Erik Selvig and Idris Elba as Heimdall who appears in a vision. Mark Ruffalo returns as Bruce Banner aka Hulk with Lou Ferrigno again providing Hulk's roar. Scarlett Johansson returns as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow whose Red Room past is briefly glimpsed in a vision that features one of her trainers, Madame B, played by Julie Delpy. Jeremy Renner returns as Clint Barton aka Hawkeye whose secret domestic life is revealed in the form of two kids and a pregnant wife, Laura Barton, played by Linda Cardellini. Representing the former SHIELD, Samuel L. Jackson returns as Col. Nick Fury with Cobie Smulders as former Agent and current Stark Industries employee Maria Hill as well as Aaron Himelstein as Specialist Cameron Klein who refused to launch the helicarriers at gunpoint in "Winter Soldier". Representing Hydra, Thomas Kretschmann reprises his "Winter Soldier" end-credit turn as Baron Wolfgang von Strucker as does Henry Goodman as Dr. List who portrayed his character between films on "Agents of SHIELD". Making their proper debut after their "Winter Soldier" end-credit appearance are Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch, the Sokovian fraternal twins and Hydra volunteers who survived being experimented on by the Chitauri Scepter. James Spader's silky voice and sardonic wit bring Ultron to vivid life as a menacing A.I. bent on exterminating everything organic to fulfill his programming of ensuring peace. As a disembodied intelligence, a collective drone legion or in his vibranium chassis, he is the most formidable opponent the Avengers have yet faced. Andy Serkis does a terrific turn as the unsavory Ulysses Klaue, a South African mercenary who loses an arm to Ultron and who introduces the concept of Wakanda. Claudia Kim plays Dr. Helen Cho whose research into synthetic skin proves instrumental in the development of Vision. Ingvild Deila, who was the physical template for the CGI Princess Leia in "Rogue One", has a bit part as a technician at the internet's World Hub in Oslo. Lastly, Josh Brolin returns as Thanos for the character's third appearance in the saga. TRIVIA: 1. As 20th-Century Fox studios owned the film rights to anything mutant-related in the Marvel Universe, Wanda and Pietro could not be identified as such although they are mutants in the comics. Instead, they were designated as 'enhanced' in the film. The characters were able to be incorporated into the MCU because they are Avengers in the comics which meant that both Disney and Fox had access to them. 2. Since Ultron is nine feet tall, James Spader wore a harness with two stalks that extended three feet above his head upon which two red balls were mounted to represent Ultron's eyes! Spader's scene partners had to direct their gaze at the red balls when acting opposite him. 3. While the JARVIS A.I. is actually an acronym that means "Just A Rather Very Intelligent System", the FRIDAY A.I. is both a reference to the '40's slang 'girl Friday' otherwise known as a secretary who provides invaluable support to her boss as well as the 1940 film "His Girl Friday" known for its snappy banter which is shared by Stark and his new operating system. 4. A motion capture performance artist pioneer known for Gollum, King Kong, Caesar and Snoke, Andy Serkis did double-duty as Ulysses Klaue and as technical consultant on ILM's new motion capture system called "Muse" which provided more expressive rendering for the Hulk and Ultron. EASTER EGGS: 1. In the comics, Dr. Helen Cho is the mother of Amadeus Cho, the seventh smartest person on the planet and a close friend to Hulk and Hercules! 2. When Ultron first meets the twins in the church, he is draped in a crimson cloth referencing his first appearance in the comics when he hid his robotic face with a red hood and went by the moniker of The Crimson Cowl! 3. The band playing during Cap's hallucination are identified as 'The Roy Thomas Players'. Roy Thomas was Marvel's editor-in-chief during the 1970s! 4. Four Infinity Stones have been seen in the saga so far but "Age of Ultron" reveals that the Tesseract and the Chitauri Scepter gem are containment units for their Stones much like the Orb in "Guardians of the Galaxy" while the Aether can crystallize into a concentrated ingot! CAMEO: 1. Stan Lee appears as a World War II veteran at the Avengers Tower party who unwisely imbibes Thor's potent Asgardian ale leaving him unable to walk and mumbling his catch-phrase 'Excelsior'! END-CREDIT SCENE: 1. Thanos reaches into an aperture and removes an Infinity Gauntlet which he puts on and balls into a fist resolving to handle matters personally. The next chronological stop in the MCU are Episodes 20-22 of Season 2 of "Agents of SHIELD" which concludes the second season of the show.

It's kind of funny in an odd sort of way. You are pregnant. During the making of this movie, Scarlett Johansson is pregnant with her first child. And Clint's wife, Laura is pregnant. You'll notice her behind furniture, in her robe, and a hoodie at one point. She was in the early dtages but the belt on her Widow uniform covers middle. Your excitement for these films is commendable. But the editing is still a bit jerky. The Falcon, the winged guy, was Captain America's partner in modern times, where Bucky was his partner in World War ll. I think you are in for some pleasant back forth between the two of them. Another film you may enjoy is THE NATURAL, starring Robert Redford. He was Alexander Pierce in The Winter Soldier and has been a major movie star since the 196o's. He is also responsible for the Sundance Film Festival. I will continue to follow your growth through the channel. Hope your pregnancy is going well. And see you next time. Enjoy
