Marvin Jr let him know that he was preaching the word to his children and wife. But secretly living his life as a woman and his father didn’t like being called out. (Hypocrite) Also Marvin Sr. was very cruel to his Marvin Jr. through out his whole life. Marvin Jr was beat more than any child in the household. Marvin Sr. wasn’t very supportive of his Marvin Jr. If you look at the way Marvin Sr talk verbally and the movements of his body and hands there’s no doubt he has homosexual tendencies. Bottom line is Marvin’s dad had a couple of hidden secrets. One was open, but done late in the evening/night. The other hidden only to those who were and got close to him. Nonetheless. As you can see, Marvin absolutely loved his dad. And was deeply encouraged by him when he approved of him. However, Marvin’s dad was very jealous of his musical success and didn’t want him to pursue music from the get go. Parents and Guardians beware!

After growing older amd learning that hia father was responsible for his death, i was completley confused! Just witnessing the dynamics between this father and son explains alot regarding the respect that Marvin Gaye had for his father regardless of his own success! You reach a certain level in life, a certain level of accomplishment and it's not even about money, its about maturity. My uncle was a DJ and he promoted Marvin Gaye concert when Marvin Gaye released “Sexual Healing” and I was a teenager when I was first introduced to him by my uncle who both became good friends and I remember when my uncle invited Marvin to my grandma house for thanksgiving we were all outside my grandma house playing football because she had a huge backyard and it became tradition for us to play football every thanksgiving outside before we eat and Marvin was a beast playing football, he caught every pass my dad threw to him because my dad was a QB in college and I had to guard him once and he (Marvin) did this little two step on me and caught the ball and I was playing high school football at the time and Marvin Gaye was in his 40’s going into beast mode. He enjoyed himself because I think he loved hanging out with my family because my dad has 16 brothers and 2 sisters and my dad is the oldest and I think that was one of the reason why Marvin Gaye came with my uncle to thanksgiving. I remember when he died my grandma found out while she was cooking breakfast and she went into her room and closed the door while my aunt was crying on the couch. We only knew him for a short time, but he made a huge impact on our family because we have several musicians in our family, mostly studio bands and back up singers but he made a huge impact on us. Years later I met his daughter at a reunion and I told her who I was and she hugged me, I had a crush on her ever since

The man who beat his children without mercy, while preaching a twisted, sick, religious morality, didn't want his son to play football because they would "tear him up" and hurt him? Marvin Gaye Sr. was one of the sickest people imaginable. The strangest thing of all was Marvin Gaye Jr.'s decision to move back in with his parents. And to do so knowing he had a large cocaine habit only made it more bizarre a choice. Marvin Gaye Jr. was working his way toward that final confrontation. I think Marvin Gaye Jr. wanted to die and he knew the way out was to finally beat the man who had brought so much pain. He also knew his father would kill him. It played out like a Greek Tragedy.

So true. I mean for you to buy a gun for a person you can't stand and then provoke him by beating him is suicide.

Nayvadius Wilburn no, just adds to the understanding of where the specific person/individual was coming from

Nayvadius Wilburn if you have a transexual live their life in peace and understanding, and they grow old and die, then they were just a human being living their individual life experience. When a murderer is a druggie and a transexual it makes you question what happened to that individual, what may have been wrong with them. Thats not even a negative thing thats just how life sadly works (because we let it). Questioning eachother because we all have such deep bias.. If we all leave eachother alone and live in peace and no judgement then theres nothing wrong with being upfront and asking questions and talking about things ya know

I can't stand to think that this talented, loving, creative being who shared his talent in such a loving way would get murdered. Much less by his own father. Marvin had such a loving, peaceful heart. 😢❤🙏

I think the saddest part of the whole thing is that all marvin Jr. ever wanted was his father's GENUINE love and approval...so sad and 31yrs later still such a tragic loss.

It wasn't the energy it was the video. I have seen the original, its much lighter. You can see them more clearly.

I think family relationships are the most complicated. Marvin seemed like such a sensitive soul like anyone who has and will I think he struggled with himself. Rest his soul.

That's why you have to be careful with who you ask to pray for you because he asked his daddy to pray for him and he didn't. He was hatin on Marvin in every way low key.

Wtf is wrong with you? All these people that only have negative things to say wait until you are repaid for your evil deeds and we'll see who will have mercy for y'all...you are all sick it's horrid. He said he didn't pray for his son to get on the Detroit Lions because he didn't want to see his son hurt on a stretcher. You sound like a demon.
