there is a reason why he was shunned I know a bit about this guy first of all racist he hates whites ok fair enough do and hate what you will it wont make me lose any sleep but on top of that sure he can play sure he has chops but he's simply over playing if he played like this on 2 records that may be the reason he over plays simple as that I can and HAVE over played so I'm not hating on him at all in fact if anything is useful advice to everyone better to slightly under play than to over play just one not its ugly sounding...listen to it if you think this sounds good ...you need to get into an ear training camp listen to some old kenton records or any good big band and they wouldn't be caught dead playing like this and this guy should have known better thats what gets my goat a jazz drummer should have payed enough dues to know what overplaying is welp here a prime example of it

@@kirkwatstien6979 this is a drum concert. Drummers play differently at festivals look at the recent buddy concerts. Smitty Took souls that day. And if you listen to other recordings of him it’ll prove my point.

@@RichardEllis-p7l You need to watch more BR, playing drums is not just about speed. Obviously BR never did the double BD thing, it was not part of his set. He played a solo with just bass drums once in the 1950s I think. A novelty to him.

And making stupid ass comments about drummer Dennis Chambers. Dennis Chambers is also a great Jazz bebop Drummer. Dennis has studied Bebop Jazz all his life. And can swing his ass off playing bebop Jazz. You all's statements are very wrong and not accurate at all about Dave Wackl, and Dennis Chambers. you are very Ingorant and unaware of these guys true abilities as drummers. You people need to listen to more jazz sets on these two drummers. Get your facts straight.
