Kathleen here. I filmed this. He was disrupted by the other stallion in the ring with him right before. The other horse kinda challenged him. Right before his showing. On edge from that. The handler did a great job of keeping him focused! He was always a bit jumpy. We bought him at 6 years old and was worth 2 million. He sired many champions, and was completely spoiled when we had him. We don’t know what happened previous of 6 years, but we sure took care of him well, and he calmed.

I've been an Arabian horse enthusiast since I was about six years old. I currently care for a 33-year-old gelding. Over the years I've been more and more turned off by the way these beautiful, intelligent horses are shown and trained, especially in halter. The commenters who questioned what goes on out of the sight of the public are right to do so. If you watch these horses' behavior in the show ring, you'll get all the information you need to know that they are frequently dominated and abused. It's all so unnecessary. Far too many people involved in owning, breeding and showing Arabians aren't true "students of the breed." They lack knowledge about the history of the breed and and the breed itself has suffered. They are exploited for their beauty and bred for what's popular in the show ring. Like so many wonderful animals in our world, their value lies in what income they can generate. You need only to visit the horse auctions all over our nation to see what happens to those who are aren't deemed "living art." It's sad and I no longer want to be a part of it. I love them too much to see them psychologically and physically abused.

How much Arabian Stallion cost?
@Ladypurr
3 жыл бұрын
@@yomamasofatwhenshewalksshe2401 Oh, that's a wide open question! You can buy a fine, well-bred Arabian stallion with some basic training for as little as $5,000. From there, the sky's the limit. It's not unusual for Arabians to bring as much as a $ million-plus. But, just because a horse commands a high price tag it doesn't guarantee that the horse will be a quality breeding stallion. If you're considering an Arabian stallion, do your homework and study the breed's history before you invest your money in a horse.

I own a retired halter horse who won multiple class A championships before I bought him. He is a class act and I suppose he would be described as "old breeding". When we play together he will spontaneously stand as he was trained to, with fire in his eyes and heart. He knows he is magnificent in every way. If an Arabian horse has a deep bond with his handler/rider he will perform from with brilliance! The tragedy is the face shaving which impairs the sensory system and yes, the quirt as someone mentioned. My horse's pedigree is filled with greatness but the greatest thing of all is his heart which catches fire when we spend time together. I boarded in a barn filled with Arabians and one was a Marwan El Shaqab son. From a distance he looked like a picture. Up close he had straight, pointed shoulders, terrible legs, and an awful headset. His movement, due to the shoulders was stiff and wooden. He was winning championships. The sport is in a sad state and the horses are the victims in this. The horse in this video does not look like he has great legs either as he appears to toe out quite remarkably. Watch the "shankers" video for another look at what people will do to get the performance they desire. Abuse crosses all disciplines but some practices are more obvious. :(

I'm simply an admirer of Arabs that I mostly see on KZitem and the first thing that came to mind when I saw this horse was "grotesque". And the over-exaggerated "whoohing" of some of the crowd was equally so. Poor horse. Like the dogs that are bred with breathing issues because of desired facial characteristics. And the use of quirts always strikes me as being obscene.

@@OvayBrandao Seriously? He is sweaty, twitchy, rolling his eyes and flinching every time someone in his line of sight raises their arms or tries to touch him. He even twitches away when the handler (!) moves in to touch his mussle at first. I know people will go "but his ears arent turned back, he likes it". No. No horse is really "into" people waving their arms around or screaming. Yes, I know that these horses are super expensive and probably spoiled like children. But the way they are shown in halter often makes use of the fact that horses are flight animals. Riling them up to get a reaction is just something I really don't like to see.
@OvayBrandao
2 жыл бұрын
@@xolitaire You should see the shows that take place in the Arabic countries... They even bring a second stallion in the arena to get a reaction from the stallion being presented. In this case, I bid to differ... Marwan's attitude is very "stallionesque"... he's perceptive, ready... If the stallion was scared, he'd just try to take off. Horses are herbivores therefor prey for predators. What does a prey do when it senses danger ? Takes off then stops at a safe distance and reassesses the situation. Its in their nature. You can see Marwan in stance. He's just hyped. I don't know how long have you been around Arabian horses but I promise you this stallion is in an awesome state of mind in this presentation.

@@xolitaire I swear I love horses and especially Arabian horses. I know many tricks and sad things taking place in this "industry " but this is not the case here. If an Arabian stallion has ever been whipped I assure you he will be impossible to show while the handler is holding a whip.
@xolitaire
2 жыл бұрын
@@OvayBrandao I never said he was whipped. Not once. But this type of "show" leaves its marks even without that. A friend of mine bought a show arab a few years ago. Not a rescue, but actually one of these allegedly pampered, beloved young arabian stallions which won several prices in halter. And that stallion had literally been conditioned to overreact to everything. He was nervous 24/7 (because the prancing and sweating looks so good during a show) and underweight. It took over a year but by now he actually has a healthy weight, has learned to calm down and is actually a happy, reliable cross country horse. And guess what? Some Arab enthusiasts still remember that stallions halter show days and keep telling my friend that she "ruined" him.

What they do to these Arabs (behind the scenes) is absolutely sick...if you think this is pleasurable to watch --an animal full of fear and adrenaline it isn't -- if you have any sensitivity at all - this Arab horse show scene is something like a monster truck show in the level of sophistication of the spectator...this is also like the Roman Coliseum -- getting off on the distress of another being....what goes around comes around. Yes, Arabs are beautiful -- they don't need to be so amped up to appreciate it - just makes the whole thing look totally classless and cruel.

One of finest examples of the Arabian breed I have ever seen. This animal is gorgeous. Is it also one the famous Goldens?
