This interview was filmed two years ago and never released! We sat down and recorded this episode a full year before I traveled to Mongolia to stay with the Kazakh Eagle Hunters and two full years before I traveled to visit the Omo Valley tribes of Ethiopia (both of which we discuss here). In celebration of Dr. Bill and I presenting at the the 2023 Kansas City Wise Traditions Conference this week, please enjoy!
Dr Bill Schindler is an internationally known prehistoric and experimental archaeologist and primitive technologist and currently teaches anthropology at Washington College, Maryland, where he founded and directs the Eastern Shore Food Lab, an innovative teaching and learning space dedicated to reconnecting people with their food and traditional and ancient foodways. His work is currently the focus of Wired magazine's KZitem series, Basic Instincts, and he co-starred in the National Geographic Channel series, “The Great Human Race.” Dr Schindler's work has appeared in the Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Baltimore Sun, The Times (UK), The Times (South Africa), The Irish Times, Tuko News (Kenya), The Daily Mirror (London), and The Japan Times, in addition to foreign language publications around the world.
His book and online classes are my go-to recommendation for anyone wanting to learn about proper food processing.
We discuss traditional diets, plant toxins and ancestral methods for removal, and why many modern humans have intolerances to traditional foods.
Get ready to enjoy Dr. Bill’s passion, unparalleled knowledge, and entertaining stories.
