Good stuff. fam! Never even thought to mix in Maschine. I always load the stems into Studio One or Reason and mix/edit within those DAWs. Straight to the point tutorials!

Rather than doubling up your pattern/kit how about creating 2 extra fx groups (call them “Aux A” and “Aux B”). Send Aux 1 from the drums to “Aux A”, and send Aux 2 from the Drums to “Aux B” On Aux A group add an EQ, Chorus, Reverb to the first 3 sounds respectively. Set the Aux 1 send from the EQ on sound 1 to the Chorus on sound 2, and the Aux 2 from the EQ on sound 1 to the Reverb on sound 3 You now control your Chorus and Reverb Aux sends from group 2’s EQ sound instead of from group 1’s drums sound (I think you maybe need to set audio output of EQ to none) (Then Repeat for Aux B group using your Beat Delay and Flanger on sounds 2 and 3 respectively) It still requires 2 extra channels but you’re just splitting your effects instead of duplicating your midi/sounds I can provide an example file

So basically by switching post to pre, and turning down the group fader on the copy, then routing them to the effects, you can hear all the same sounds without making it louder on 4 effects or more instead of 2? That’s pretty cool. I never really understood what post and pre was for until now. Normally I would just put multiple effects in 1 slot or the same effect in multiple slots, but multiplying the sounds instead of the effects is an option I didn’t know I had.

Thanks for this. Really appreciate all your videos. Here is my question though - what makes this better than simply adding your effects to groups or sounds? Is it just that you see effects in the icing window and can manipulate them from there vs jumping in the groups? CPU usage better?

Thank you ! Traditionally in recording we had fx returns on reverbs, delays chorus etc fed back in a console. With today, using software has allowed us to insert these types of plugins directly on the track while allowing us to control the wet to dry ratio. Technology has advanced over the last 10 years allowing us to run audio software more efficiently. For example there has been a change from 32 bit processing to 64 bit. In the past, putting plugins on the actual channel would delay the channel and put it out of time, hog up your cpu and not only that, but it was looked at the "wrong way to do things" when it comes to professional audio. The bottom line is knowing and understanding your gear and how it will affect your over all sound. As long as it sounds good its good !

Whyyyyyy????!!!! Just dumb this has zero application makes zero sense to ever do this. Over complicating an effect that can be done simply by doubling the pattern then putting fix that you want on each individually. What you did just takes more time and causes confusion.
