The ONE. TINY. THING!!! That disappointed me about 1 2 3 Slaughter Me Street 1 and 2 is that there's not a single deeper interesting facts, background information and/or story about the puppets, only to kill the player for no good reason unlike the other horror games like Fnaf, Poppy, and some others. But NO!! It's just blank, nothing, absolutely no meaning of reason to murder the player, usually any horror game have a backstory in the middle or close to the ending of playing the game and possibly giving us small hints of background when you start playing game, same thing with Fan Games as well...

Heya! Modeler/Developer at IGS, creators of Slaughter Me Street (though I was not involved with the company at the time of the original games' development) here. Great video! As for a potential third entry, keep an eye out! We're currently working on remaking the first two games first, to bring them to a higher standard of quality (as well as some other things behind the scenes), but a third entry will happen eventually. We hope you look forward to it, I'll be sure to spread this video around 🙂 Edit: Thank you everyone for all the kind words! To new people seeing this, we have demo for a new game out on Itch and Gamejolt if you're interested! The game is called Slaughter Me Street: 1999, a fresh take on the series developed solely by me, and the full version will be coming to Steam before long!

Honestly, I'll go out and say it conceptually I think Showdown Bandit is a way much compelling concept for an indie horror than Bendy. Bendy's setting is admittingly unique as far as mascot horrors go (being a literal alternate dimension tied to the studio rather than just "place that gets quirky" ala FNAF, Poppy, Banban, etc.) but the premise of puppets coming to life ala Toy Story after years of inactivity due to a cancelled show, only to find the showrunners have gone missing, is really dang interesting. It has a nice intrigue to it, and it feels less like your typical mascot horror "worker goes to previous workplace to find everything has gone awol", but rather you're in a way _one of the monsters._ You're one of the puppets trying to figure out what happened, all the while making sure a mysterious observing entity doesn't get suspicious.

@@bella_daze3092 I've noticed that's unfortunately a bit of an issue with Mascot Horror as a genre. You have to have some originality and (tbh rather contrived usually) intrigue, but go _too hard_ into it and your game becomes more volatile. Showdown Bandit was trying something too niche, both in gameplay and the "nostalgia hook" (marionette shows, let alone westerns, are almost a century old at this point and unlike rubberhose cartoons are less well-preserved). I personally really enjoyed the game despite its faults and was hoping to see it continue and improve, but it doesn't surprise me why it flopped. Like people meme on it but is there any surprise in the fact Garten of Banban is successful? Child-friendly character designs, intentionally confusing plot, vague lore, it's Hello Neighbor all over again.

So, this is my understanding of the plot of the "123 Slaughter Me Street" series. So, Tim Denson made a show called the "Foggel Friends". However, the Nightmare (the red one) felt Tim was plagiarizing him (somehow). So, the Nightmare possessed Tim into killing his daughter and turned Tim's muppets to murders monsters, leading to the events of the second game. After running around his house for several days instead of just escaping, Tim realize the police arrive and runs away. Somehow in between games, he gets to the top of a building. In the original "123 Slaughter Me Street", Tim jumps off the room a building and land on another. For some reason, this building has a completely different set of murderous puppets. After avoiding them for seven floors, Tim finds the bottom floor is on fire preventing him from escaping. Then, the new puppets just kill him. Also, Tim may or may not be off his rocker with the puppets just being hallucinations.

In defense of Ekrcoaster, he has a personal history with the CEO of MOB Games and he said that he wouldn't have accused Poppy Playtime of plagiarism if it was just a random project. Outside some minor similarities (one of the monsters in Venge looks like Huggy and the whole text that appears when you die), I don't think MOB Games copied or even got inspired by Venge in the first place. I believe the harassment Ekrcoaster did caused him not to see any good in MOB Games and, as a result, he saw the similarities as proof of plagiarism. Especially since he needed to check himself in a psychiatric facility after the guys he looked up to sent their audience to harass him. As for Venge, I do think it has the potential to become more popular. Ekrcoaster also made some meme games like that Christmas game with Maria Chery defrosting that Dawko played. So that might happen to venge as well.

Poppy copied Venge, but a different version of it, this is something that I have talked with the Dev behind Venge, Ekrcoaster. I already knowed about Venge even before it's controversy, back in 2018 when the project was called Glitch. back then he released a short teaser demo of the game before rebooting it into becoming Venge. When I read the document he compiled about his history with Mob Entertainment and Poppy Playtime, I noticed that something wasn't lining up. It was the release date and content of both games. Poppy released in October of 2021 and Venge in July 2020. Venge, as you have experienced, offered a fastly different experience than Poppy. I know about game development and I know that It couldn't be possible to plagerize a game with this much content in such a short amount of time When I noticed this, I began to question. "How did poppy plagiarize this game? Sure, Ekrcoaster had proof that Mob Ent. threated him wrong in the past, and I could see then plagirizing his game just to mock him, but how would then be able to do that" Then I remembered the prototype, A.K.A Glitch. I checked, and as I expected, both Glitch and Poppy were similar. similar premise, similar gameplay and similiar plot and events. I went thorught Discord and talked with Coaster, when I told him about it, he agreed it me that this was possible that they could have plagiarized the older version (Glitch) instead of the current one (Venge). That was the end of my Story with Venge Controversy. I want to quickly talk about Ekrcoaster himself, he is quite friendly and frequently post updates about the status of his game and animations on Discord, so if you were intresting about Venge, you should check his Discord for updates, and talking with him. I also want to point out that the people behind Poppy Playtime, A.K.A Mob Games, aren't responsible for anything, there are just a dev team trying to make a actual game, and the people that are (PRESUMEBLY) responsible with the decison of copying Venge, it's the owners and founders of Mob Entertainment / ZAMination.

Funny thing was that I never knew the two games had the same company until now. As for Slaughter Me Street, I just stumbled upon an FNF mod and never understood the context, just thinking "Oh, this is cool". The fact that I recognized the character on the thumbnail was one of the main reasons I'm watching this video

The sad thing is I saw a lot of potential is Showdown bandit. Like its atmosphere was creepy and the gameplay seemed tense at points, plus the scare faced antagonist seemed really frightnening. Its really a shame that it never got far... I would honestly have loved to see more done with it, but alas.... not all good things come for free... Adimitedly I did not realise how over marketed the game was...

i was briefly very hyperfixated on 123 SMS after the DAGames song dropped, i always knew the games wernt great but the devs are super kind and the small community was too. The 2 mobile games are nothing special but theyre the highlight of the series imo! Worth playing when youre bored. iirc a third game was scrapped pretty early in development, and one of the devs went off to do puppet stuff on youtube (Odd Stories for Odd Children i think?). There was a teaser for a remake of the first game awhile back that looked promising but I have no clue if its still in development. I feel the second game was rushed because of the sudden popularity and I have more worries that if a new one comes out it'll be similar. I will be playing regardless though. I am an evil blue elmo fan at heart

I can't help but feel bad for Showdown Bandit flopping, yet laugh at it for the exact same thing. Imagine making a game that had EVERYTHING set up in plan for it, and still fucking up so badly that not even the merch is lucrative.

I honestly say it's just karma doing it's job since Mike and themeatly completely scrapped all the content the other dev team made rebuild everything into this shell of game 2 weeks before the games release.

the og creator of slaughter me street has a youtube channel called Odd Stories YT where he posts things involving puppets, including those of the follower and greeter. i honestly have no clue whats going on in any of the videos and the SMS game characters dont play big roles in them but its still super cool and the real-life puppets look absolutely fantastic

Man, it is such a shame, for the longest time. I actually thought Showdown Bandit was quiet because they didn't want to spoil and surprise us when it fully released, but now, as I watch this video, I realize that the game wasn't getting updated 😔

I'd only ever heard of Venge because of Poppy and never heard of Showdown Bandit at all somehow?? 123 SMS is a throwback though oh my god... I think I remember watching Markiplier play it? Or maybe it was Entoan... either way, I forgot it and the song existed entirely... Hope the remakes of it and Venge are good! I'd love to see them get another chance.

Honestly I am a bit mixed when it comes to showdown bandit's failure. On one hand, It had potential and I am a bit sad that now the studio is more than likely gonna just keep making bendy games, which while I do like, it was looking like they were gonna move forward and do more besides being the bendy guys. On the other hand the gameplay was infact really bad; and knowing the fact that the Meatly and Mike remade the game quickly and got rid of the stuff that the other devs made; seeing the game fail feels like a fitting comeuppance.

I really like Venge and it really sucks that it got overshadowed by Poppy. Don't get me wrong, I like Poppy, but people act like they're the same thing when they're really not
@KatAlystsStage

I think that has more to do with the fact that the heads of development for Poppy Playtime and Venge's dev had beef with each other than it does the games themselves. Like they both draw inspiration from similar places, but it's executed differently. I don't have positive feelings about Poppy Playtime and how the guys at the top of it all have treated others, be it this guy, their own employees, or their fans. I absolutely believe that Venge's developer was victimized and hurt in many horrible ways. But do I believe Poppy Playtime was made purely to spite and crush him? I don't think there's enough solid evidence for that at this point in time, hard to say for sure, but that would really suck if it was true. I mean making a game just to hurt someone? Wrapping a bunch of employees up in a revenge plot without any idea what's really going on? That's supervillain material if I've ever heard it.

Apparently SMS 2 was supposed to be much larger and expansive with it all taking place on one level that the player would slowly uncover as they progressed through the game, and watching some of the early trailers I can see a lot of that in there. It's crazy how many rooms/cutscenes in those trailers do not show up in the final game and I feel like if it went with what it was originally going for, it could've been a surfaceable hide n seek survival horror game with more potential to expand on the story

Showdown Bandit was a terrible game from head to toe. The gameplay was so slow and unbelievably repetitive it felt like the developers designed it that way on purpose, half the features were underutilized and badly integrated (like the damn pistol) to the point it wasn't fun to get reminded they were there. It doesn't even hold value for collectionist completion since one of the achievements is bugged on Steam. At least the soundtrack and theming are decent.

There was one very old game that was similar to Showdown Bandit. I forgot the name but I remember playing it on PS2 or PS3… It had to do with a puppet boy and golden scissors. It was an adventure/rpg runner. It was very fun although i wish i could remember it.😅

I knew about Venge and the game is still being worked on. EKRCoaster has worked on Minecraft style animations during development. He's more focused on developing the game now as he's rebuilt the game from scratch and looks much better than before. I knew nothing about the other 2 prior to this video. It's really dumb to make merch when your popularity isn't anywhere close to 1/3rd the population of the country you live in.

Honestly i think 123 slaughter me street could have been more memorable if they leaned into the namesake, cuz the title suggests its based on sesame street, heck the logo style looks exactly like the sesame street logo but the monsters don't look anything like something from sesame street, the ones in the second game even less so. Cuz there was a more recent game also based on sesame street aka my friendly neighborhood, and it leans into the theme more and I'd argue those designs are way more memorable cause they actually look like what the title hints at.

While I can understand why 123SMS didn’t exactly take off, its visuals and textures are actually what I deeply enjoy about it. It looks disgusting and gross and haunting. I think if it looked more “polished,” it wouldn’t stand out at all. I’m very excited to see how these games will adapt when revisited.
