I never would have thought there was anything more to Rogers being Tony Nelson in the IDOJ reunion other than somebody else had to play him when Larry Hagman refused to come back.

I just realised something, and if you look at Wayne Rogers' left shoulder, and view the lip from about 6:25 or so, you'll realise also, that the background is actually chroma-keyed in. Wayne Rogers is actually sitting in front of a green-screen.

My understanding was that during the original run they didn't give Larry or any of the cast notice that it was cancelled. And he felt they deserved better. Perhaps he didn't feel obligated to partcipate unless the money was right

I once wrote and published an I dream of Jeannie fan fiction story, where it's revealed that jeannie put a spell on Tony Nelson which makes him look like Wayne Rodgers every two years, and part of the spell is that nobody knows the difference!

lee marvin was sent the script for The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean while filming pocket money with paul newman. marvin left the script out in the open. newman found it, read it, liked it, wanted the role for himself and literally stole the role and film from marvin. The film was based on an original script by John Milius. milius wanted to direct, but the studio did not want him to helm the project. the studio even paid a then record 300,000 dollars to own the script and control over it totally. millius was a fan of the previous works by director john huston but felt that huston ruined his script. milius was not happy about the casting of paul newman, who he called a 'cutey-pie.' milius said he had hoped warren oates would play the title character. milius was quoted as saying: "Judge Roy Bean has been turned into a Beverly Hills western. Roy Bean is an obsessed man. He's like Lawrence of Arabia. He sits out there in the desert and he's got this great vision of law and order and civilization and he kills people and does anything in the name of progress. I love those kind of people! That's the kind of people who built this country! That's the American spirit! And they say, 'What you've created is a reprehensible man. We've got to make him much more cute.' So they changed it from a Western about royalty and greed and power to a western where Andy Williams sings a song in the middle of the movie and the judge and his girl and a pet bear go off on a picnic. It's incredible. He goes on a picnic and sits on a teeter-totter. It's a movie about Beverly Hills people. About John Foreman and John Huston and Paul Newman."
