Rock Hyraxes (aka Rock Dassies) are commonly seen on top of rocks, boulders & cliffs. These rocky areas are favoured as they provide crannies and crevices in which hyraxes can shelter.
They eat a variety of grasses, forbs and shrubs, including some that are highly aromatic and others known to be poisonous to other species. Occasionally they have to leave the safety of the rocks to reach those extra special pieces of plants.
