I love it how Bioware finally put more character development into Shepard on an emotional scale, it really shows that Shepard is under a massive amount of stress, plus the PTSD of being blown up in ME2, then having the fate of the galaxy rest on his hands in ME3, because deep down, he knew he was fighting a losing battle, even if he said he was hopeful.

thats the true story of Mass Effect 3. It shows, that there are some things, that you cannot stop. And whatever you are going to do it will end the same way. The 4th ending shows it. The very end of it, when the catalyst dissapears, and Shepard just look at the schorched Earth... Thats life. Thats true face of your own life. It hits hard, and takes no prisoners.

Shepard was doing exactly what Saren told him not to in ME - miring him/herself in pointless revolt and sacrificing everything for the sake of petty freedoms, driven by emotion instead of logic, fighting a fight that cannot be win, something what even Shepard admitted before Harbinger in Arrival but chose it regardless, because it's perfectly organic reaction.

Wow, that was beautiful. It was so beautiful that you inspired me to extend your small stanza, i hope you don't mind. Here it is: I walk through a cold forest of grey, My name echoing, Whispers through the wind, Time slows to a crawl, The shadows of those I could not save standing close, A manifestation of all my fears, But amongst the trees, a child, Playing,laughing, Innocence embodied, A sudden flash of red, Followed by a thunderous shriek, The child cowers with fear, Then disappears within the forest of grey, I find myself wandering deeper, The whispers grow louder, The child emerges once more, I extend my hand, my comfort, But alas, it was not enough, Embers are born at the childs feet, The embers turn to flame, The child engulfed, now ash, I could not save him, I could not save them, I could not save myself. It describes the first dream that Shepard has. I hope you like it!

Shepard has the weight of the galaxy on his/her shoulders. The child represents everyone he/she can't save. I think these scenes are really brilliant and show the gravity of Shepard's situation. I don't think these scenes were at all out of place. I'd have to say that if you think it's out of place then that's pretty much completely wrong. But not me, I made the ultimate sacrifice and...destroyed legions legacy.

No other person In the game actually interacted with this kid... Why cuirsible had things to destroy? Why few milions of technicians and scientist build a device, that need to be destroyed? Why catalist didnt looked like someone Shepard actually loves? You cannot control the reapers. Saren and Illusion man trayed, and they end indoctrinated. A symbiosis? the whole galaxy and everything there lives would turn into half machine. The Reapers would achieve they ultimate goal. Destroy? you would destroy Geth too. Shepard wouldn't sacrifice whole race. And the mass relays are destroyed. There is only one ending. The not-choose-ending. Only then, the Shepard will be finnaly free.

This is one of the many things why I loved Mass Effect 3 and why I consider it as the best game of the best video games trilogy ever made. We always heard that Shepard was an alone kid without parents who grew in the streets of a big city on Earth, who engaged himself in the Alliance army very young and who's a lonely survivor from a disastrous mission. We could expect that he was suffering of some guilt, some trauma, but they gave us that scene only in the third game. It showed us how Shepard is fighting against his past and himself. As people die again and again, you will hear their voices, whispering to you all these moments you've been living with them. All those scenes, all those lines, all of this, gone. And if you did the choices that made them die, you'll feel guilty, you, behind your screen, because you *ARE* Shepard. It showed me why I took the "good" decisions. I wasn't playing a certain amount of pixels in a video game but a character, as sensitive as the others, it showed me how my Shepard loved Tali as the only real family he's got. This dream, much more a nightmare, is one of the best scenes in the trilogy, and in video games. It's worthy of Mass Effect.

You're using arrival as the only time Shepard has been around Reaper tech? In ME1 you encounter dozens upon dozens of Dragon's Teeth indoctrination devices and victims of it. As well as sovereign whom you speak directly to. In ME2 you go into a DEAD REAPER, then the collector ship and base, confront a living Reaper larvae and then there's arrival. The ME trilogy takes place over the course of 2 and a half years. That's plenty of time for the described "Slow, patient Indoctrination".

Oh? So, ME1's ending perfectly explained how the Collectors were going to be the next big threat and that you would wind up joining Cerberus? And ME2's ending, certainly explained that the Reaper's coming, but I mean... please... we've known that since ME1, so what else did it explain? Nothing. Seriously, you got exactly what you paid for the past several years now two times running, and only NOW you're outraged about it. I'm sorry, I find that to be ridiculous.
@Apillis124

Oh so everything that was going to be lead up into ME3 was perfectly explained by ME2's ending, and everything that lead up ME2 was perfectly explained by ME1 which was just a ship doing a flyby over a planet? Please. We got the same sort of ending we got in the last two installments, and we got the same marketing hype that wasn't entirely lived up to in ME3 as we did in ME1 and ME2. When you get the same thing twice, what makes anyone think it's going to be different a third time?
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
Do you mean "deus ex machina"? Do you know what that is? If you're going to be irritated with how ME3 ended, then share that same outrage with ME1&2, which ended in EXACTLY in the same manner with EXACTLY the same short, brief endings with no explanations of what happened, and all of your decisions throughout the series being only cosmetic at best. If you're going to be outraged. Be consistent with it.
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
I dunno, you don't think a super-soldier like that would sacrifice themselves and die for Earth (or almost die, pending the ending) isn't within Shepard's character? I do. As for the massive fleet it's obviously stuck there in Earth's system, and likely settle there (I don't see how they just die). I guess, I just wasn't a fooled by BioWare's marketing b.s. that they used for the ME1&2 (and other games), and got exactly what I knew what I was paying for: another ME game just like the other two.
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
The Collector Base? Actually, I destroyed it in each ME2 play through I did, and the Proto-Reaper still makes a second appearance. And it's heart still gets added to the Crucible. Just another cosmetic choice with no relative impact. Don't believe me? Try it out for yourself. Restart a Suicide Mission playthrough, destroy the CB, import the play through to ME3, do a quick run through ME3, presto--you'll see the Proto-Reaper. It's simply there because you played ME2, that's it. (cont'd)
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
Oh? What was the difference between letting the Council die and letting them live as referenced in ME2? What impact did it have in ME2? What did it prevent you from doing in ME2 that you couldn't already do with or without them? The only thing it did was, if let them live--you get officially reinstated as a Spectre. But, what impact did being officially reinstated as Spectre have in ME2? Nothing. It was all cosmetic. Nothing is said or done completely differently other than who it is.(cont'd)
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
Well, I mean, they were giving the same exact hype in regards to your decisions influencing what happens in ME2. A couple years of BioWare marketing hype to "save your game save!" because it's going to impact what happens in ME2. Then they were all purely cosmetic. So, to me ME3 was just like the previous two. And therefore, if people are going to outraged about this ending, then be consistant with that outrage in regards with the previous two endings as well.
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
Fair enough. But, I mean, ME1, two decisions, one to save the Council or not and the other for Anderson or Udina to get a spot on the Council, then you fly off into space (albeit, to a great music track). ME2? Choose to blow up the Collector base or not (maybe some or all of the crew dies), and shitload Reapers show up at the edge of the galaxy. Everything from ME1 meant squat. Look at ME3 ending--a little more happens, but still carries that same trend from the first 2 installments.
@Apillis124
12 жыл бұрын
So, you mean, you don't like how Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 ended, either? Notice how irregardless of all your decisives within either of the two games, it all pretty much boiled down to 2 or 3 varying endings via a split deicision or two at the very end, and viola--that's how it ends. All other decisions were mere cosmetics. Which has been the trend for most BioWare games for more than a decade.

Don't listen or watch. You don't like how a game ends? Don't play it. It's that simple. Moaning about it just detracts from your own argument and makes you simply look self-involved, petty, and small.

Again. When someone has bought the same thing twice in the past since '07, and then buy it a third time expecting it to somehow be a complete diversion of the previous two incarnations... Yeah, I'm sorry, I don't get that. That isn't about knowing the ending before playing it. That's about knowing what to expect before buying it.

Or, I'd do as I suggested, sell it--as I have done in the past, and not bother with that company's product, thus means less games I'm going to be buying from that company, and thus by proxy less games I would be buying from your shop. Nice try at troll logic, but to your credit, it still achieved making yourself appear utterly thoughtless.

Seeing people whine about the ending of ME3 continuously I find to be far more irritating than the lack of an epilogue. The latter, I actually don't mind that much. The former, it got old exceedingly quick, because after all--no one likes to listen to entitled, self-involved gamers.

Hi - is this on any of the mass effect 3 soundtracks? I tried previewing them on iTunes and can’t see to find this piece.

Simple, "don't play it again". Or do you need me to hold your hand some more? This is your ABC way out of this conversation.

This is the song in the nightmare I keep having after sabotaging the Cure for the Krogan and shooting Mordin, one of the most emotional moments in the series. But I made the right choice, the Krogan cannot multiply and wage war on the other races, it's not worth the risk.

But what gives you the right to decide that? If the Krogan were made to populate so much naturally the way they are intended, who are you to say they should not?

Thronie3 But it isn't natural. They were mutated by the salarians once, the genophage was their answer to their original mistake. To quote Shepard, "If you need another problem, ask a salarian."

Hehehe, hence my nightmares. I feel like a villain on Game of Thrones. :)

Puglous That's not true at all. Dreams are manifestations of your subconscious so what you dream about can have no correlation to the events of that day. My theory is that the boy being ignited is Shepard's mind telling him/ her that no matter what you do, you can't save everyone. It is war time and people will die whether it be a friend (Mordin) or an entire race (The Krogan)

Lol. Artbook has pages for Citadel scenes after the beam and Illusive Man confrontation. But it is not a problem since its only restricted to " visual art" There is no precise amount of time about how long it takes to get indoctrinated. It is a matter of subjects will. The first mission of the series, Eden Prime had a Dr. Manuel who almost instantly responded to it. Codex says "Rapid indoctrination is possible, but causes this decay in DAYS or weeks". Don't give false information.

My good sir... Morality is a concept made by humans... not christianity... it already existed before the acient greeks... and since the concept of morality changes drasticaly in each person... its existence as a "natural" law can not be proven... you see cristianity as the truth exactly like budist sees his own religion as the truth.... who are you to say his belifs are wrong and who is to say that yours are wrong? so please don't bring religion on a friendly filosofical chat :)

The lasting essences of war are the weapons which the soldier of creed or calling wields. With every push forward and every hill taken, the costs to those whom wield the tools are which the most diligent face. Battling on the front lines, their metal and resolve are tested and strained to breaking. Yet long after we have all gone the weapon remains a testament to an endearing truth of war: the most immediate victims are those who must pick up their tools again and again for creed or calling
