I have been a very big fan of Mas's writings for a very long time, but this is the first time that I have heard him speak. He is extremely well-spoken and conveys the facts convincingly. Should be must-viewing for all anti-gun zealots, such as Diane Feinstein.

Every word that he says would go in one ear and right out the other. People like Feinstein are people that have spent so much of their time on a gun-banning crusade that they are emotionally invested in the issue. Literally the only thing that would be likely to change their minds is for them to find THEMSELVES in a situation where they needed to use a firearm in self-defense.

We need to push for a national stand-your-ground law. As Massad so eloquently explained, it is not a get-out-of-jail-free card to murder someone you don't like or that you feel disrespected you. It is the right for every person to defend themselves, their families, or other innocent people from a perceived deadly assault without having their lives destroyed because of it.

Now love or hate the media but www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/black-man-shot-dead-while-jogging-southeast-georgia-two-months-n1196621 This black male, who by no means is a saint was just jogging in a neighborhood, chased down by two people with guns on trucks. He tried running away, failed, then turned towards one guy with a shotgun and started wailing on them, he was shot dead. Now call me crazy, but 2 citizens with guns chasing me down, I'll be less than cooperative, they'll out to kidnap or worse and I don't want to find out what. if he had a gun I"m sure he would get off but he's dead. This is one example and I can point to several examples of people being followed or forced into action only to get gun downed in cold blood and the gunner to be get off the hook and only through MASSIVE public outrage do they get dragged into the courts. So clearly, I just established that this is usable as get-out-of-jail-free, I've pointed to an example and there are many many many more.

bryan except he wasn’t just jogging down the road! He was caught trespassing on security cameras more than a couple times in a home that wasn’t his at night! The victim on that day chose to walk into that home AGAIN. The Georgia law says it’s ok to perform a citizens arrest. We could go back and forth for days whether he was in the wrong or not, but the conclusion is still the same...the so called “jogger” was a thief and due to a firearm being stolen out of a vehicle days before, the citizens had no idea if he was armed or not. Either way, the guy that ran away from the scene of the crime had ever opportunity to comply when he was first confronted. He was a felon that knew his ass was going back to prison if the law got to him and he chose to fight instead of comply. The moment he decided to fight for another mans gun, was the moment he thought dying was a better choice than prison. As a matter of fact his actions and choices ultimately caused him to lose his life. The media need to stop lying about these cases! If the shooter and victim were both the same color, we would’ve never heard anything about it. I believe the shooting was 100% justified. Could some things have been handled better? Yeah maybe, but the fact is that the court has allowed the case to be turned into something completely ridiculous because the media refuse to tell the damn truth!

I took a couple of Akoob's courses at LFI back in the early and mid 1980s. Not only is he an expert lecturer, he is a TRUE teacher and educator. He's honored me by talking to him by telephone on several occasions and these were very, very lengthy conversations. A true scholar and gentleman. But I will say that I disagree (and continue to do so) on the use of hand loaded ammo in self-defense shootings. My attorney advises me, and my own legal research proves that the use of handloaded ammo in a self-defense situation does not give the prosecutor an advantage if a righteous shooter has charges brought against him/her. In fact, expert testimony can show that the righteous shooter was showing an abundance of due diligence in using handloaded ammo because many factory produced rounds can pose a danger to bystanders, etc., because it can be more lethal than a given situation calls for. More room would allow for a clearer explanation. Nevertheless, I hold Akoob up on a pedestal with the likes of the late Col. Jeff Cooper, Bill Jordan and Skeeter Skelton. Ayoob is a giant, despite his 5'-6" height.

Massad is a very smart guy. I used to read his articles in gun magazines in the 90's as a kid. However there is one thing in this presentation that is quite questionable - The question he asks his students (to paraphrase): "If you could shoot someone, would you" - Of course he wouldn't want to shoot anyone, and many rational and reasonable people wouldn't want to shoot anyone, but i've met plenty of people first hand who WOULD love to shoot other people and are looking for reasons to use their weapon, whether it's just to fulfill a power fantasy or to act in discrimination against someone. Anyone who wants to shoot someone probably isn't going to tell you about it upfront but they're sure as hell going to spend a lot of time fantasizing about scenarios in which they "defend themselves". Again, i've seen it first hand with friends and family members.

And if these killer wannebes were to do as you describe, they would be prosecuted. I don't see any way someone can charge you for that.

Love this! I have a question for you guys, because y'all probably know way more about this subject than me. I agree that Zimmerman was fully within his right to use deadly force to defend himself when Trayvon attacked him. But what if there is evidence that you are the one that got yourself into the dangerous situation? Zimmerman was told by the non-emergency operator "we don't need out to follow him". Zimmerman didn't have to put himself in that situation in the first place.

The best defense is not to be there. Zimmerman put himself into that situation in the first place. He called the police, they told him to stand down, he refused.
