I’m so happy I could cry. I’ve tried describing the pain I’ve had countless times like this: My legs constantly feel like they need to be quickly jerked out of my pelvis by my feet. I imagine I’d find relief…aside from the whole glaring dislocation issue. 😂I’ve located the pain deep into my sacrum on the top right and top left. It’s an insane pain that actually results in some relief to the point that I’ve bruised it with my knuckles. This is the ONLY video I’ve found that ventures anywhere near this topic and then gave so many things to try. I’m elated and so very thankful. You’re the BEST!!!!!!!

Sorry watching these shurely detailed advices, I thought the visual approach in this video was very incomprehensive, cause with the clients clothes on, especially with this strong pattern on the trouser, left the inexperienced on anatomic bodymarks completely blind in being able to do this in the necessary acurateness.

The people saying it's not weird dont get that if you saw it without the context of this highly professional gentleman, then it would be incredibly weird. It would totally look like that "asmr" content that shows waaaay too much of an attractive woman's butt. Of course this is a highly professional and well explained video so it's not weird at all. I appreciate the situational awareness of this video.

Hi Ian: sorry if you've already answered this question, but is this type of SI joint manipulation beneficial for a client with a herniated disc? Or should this be avoided?
@MassageSloth
5 жыл бұрын
Hi! I wouldn't have a problem applying this in the case of lumbar disc herniation, except in extreme or debilitating cases. In other words, if the client is hypersensitive and prone to lumbar spasm, I would likely either avoid something this vigorous, or I would ease into it over multiple sessions, seeing how they respond as I progress. As for your run-of-the-mill lumbar disc pathology, I don't see a problem there. If the client can tolerate massage and movement, this won't be too unusual of a stimulus. Keep in mind that even in the case of disc herniation, the spine is well-wrapped in connective tissue, and the only way to reliably squirt out more nucleus pulposus is to fully load your torso and apply angular force. In other words, carrying a heavy box and twisting. A little shimmy and shake isn't likely to figure in. Still, just out of an abundance of caution, if a client has known disc pathology or other structural problems in the area, it's best to err on the side of starting small. Good question!

Hey Ian, you say massage is weird anyway 😁 The weirdest thing I learned was shaking the pelvis in the sitting position, but at that point we were told that "it's in the books, but no one actually does that, there are things you can do, that will also work and don't feel as uncomfortable as this".

Not weird - helpful. I've used this technique before, forgot about it, so thanks for the reminder! Those with sedentary jobs can really benefit from this technique to break up "stagnation" around the sacrum area. I also appreciate how you always explain to your clients what you'd like to do and why, get consent, and clearly let them know they can revoke consent any time they wish. This is how we build and maintain therapeutic relationships, which is as or more important than any technique. :-)
