Great video, it brought back memories. On a cold morning like yours back in the mid 80's. I started up my dad's International 2050 Fleetstar to warm up. Barn doors were only opened a couple of feet. Dad & I had left to fill combine with fuel & get started to warm up. When we got back to the barn (40 mins later) there were 5 fire departments there! The old truck smoked your Massey did & someone had called it in.... Lol!

I’m always a little fearful someone will call the FD when I fire up one of the rigs in the barn, smoke billows from the rafters 😉

We should have been neighbors. I love doing that kind of stuff. I’m always bringing things like that back to life, then fixing bad engineering. My Versatile D145 had a 180hp Cummins V8 470cu in engine, now it has a Cummins 5.9 12 valve. Much better! Sounds awesome, as well!

Good video! Massey started easily, but you weren’t very cold. The water hadn't even frozen. Here in Finland I sometimes have to start the MF168 (diesel) when the temperature is below -10 F. It's not fun or easy but sometimes it works

That sure doesn't look like a tractor that is all most 50 years old. Good looking design.

Nothing like a shed full of massey ferguson's 9:58. I think from the video the 1805 did handle the conditions pretty well. Keep the 1805, 1100 and the 165, keep all of them. Seeing them all work the same feild at once would be a sight to see. Another great video JT.

wondering why you never dug down some in the barn floor and replace it with clay and then a cover of gravel.

The 3408 is one of the easiest starting cats ever. Except maybe the 6NZ. If it spins, it's starts.

Yup typically 3208 you have to run to get clear off the fumes on a cold start lol

Hey JT, what was the part number of the fuel damper you used on the 1100, mine is doing the same thing. thanks

it was a CAV/Lucas fuel dampener 7139-159b. got it on ebay, but double check that with the model #of your pump

If you can, do whatever you can to make it as unrestricted to get air to the engine. Some guys went to a bigger pipe from the precleaner all the way to the intake. Make the Cat last much longer.

Actually the previous owner had that same thought, the tube is routed different than original and straight shot to the intake with no restrictions.

@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I always heard that would help. We’ve been very happy with Versatile. Had a Massey 1805, 7520, 4386. Those have been gone awhile. All looked neat! Every brand has its good and bad, and a lot of times the farmer’s fix makes it last. Our D145 had that crap Cummins V470. Now it has a 12 valve Cummins and it’s great! The 850 and 875 have needed very little. Both great machines, not going to get rid of them.
