The upright Pelican box is a clever idea. Thanks for sharing.

It's not quite ideal. It requires an internal frame to give it rigidity. I built one before we left, but it isn't quite strong enough so the box sags a little.

It's Awesome to have all these mechanical skills, you end up saving lots $$$, Is Cody a Mechanic? Is there a vlog on the build of the troopy?

It has dramatically reduced the price of this vehicle. Cody is not a mechanic, but he has always been very mechanically inclined. He is mostly self taught (which required a lot of mistakes). His dad used to maintain heavy equipment and was able to help Cody on some of the more difficult projects, like rebuilding our engine last year.

Awesome vehicle. Good upgrades. I think that the 1hz is a really good engine. Only issue is the BEnd bearings which tend to fail(do you know when they were last changed? You can do it engine in.) Oil leaks or oil usage the old engines can burn oil check things like blowby etc. Otherwise change the oil and filter every 5k km keep spare fuel filters and if your vehicle doesn't have I suggest getting a prefuel filter for bad diesel. Those engines just keep on going and are forgiving. Enjoy.

We actually have a Toyota 12H-T out of a Japanese 60 Series and I did a full rebuild on it about a year ago. I also installed a new pre filter(water/fuel separator) at the same time. I filmed the whole process, so maybe one day I’ll get around to editing it haha

So most of the parts you buy for the Toyota have to come from Australia? Can you find many Toyota parts in the states that are compatible with the Troopy?
@gdayjambo

The majority of our parts are actually from the UAE. Australia tends to have all of the used parts. We have had pretty good luck finding standard maintenance items in the US though.

@@gdayjambo So is there plans to upgrade to a different vehicle in the future?
@gdayjambo

@@stevenmitchell5435 probably not. This one meets every requirement we have. It was our ultimate dream vehicle so we just bought it from the start

The 70 series Landcruiser was never sold in the US so getting parts for it in the US or North America is very difficult and that is one reason you don’t see a lot of them in North America and the only way you can import one is if it is more than 25 years old. The 80 and 100 series were sold here so easy to get parts for them but not the 70 series.

@@MuhammadIamhardBrucelee parts for an HJ75 are generally quite easy to get in the US. Cruiser Outfitters in Utah sell nearly every general maintenance item and Part Souq in the UAE has most other parts and can deliver within a week. Full engine rebuild kits are easily purchased from Australia, but shipping is expensive. There is only one item (steering knuckle) we were unable to find new or used but Cruiser Outfitters was willing to source one for us.
