This was awesome! Best video I’ve seen regarding positioning. I also like the graphics to help us visualize better. For example, an overhead view with an icon of the ball and colour coding in green and red on how much court each player should be covering and where. Thank you so much!

Great way to rationally explain court positioning! Not many beginner/intermediate players have a grasp on court positioning. I like how Catherine and Athena emphasized the importance of protecting the areas where your opponent has a higher success chance of landing quality shots. At least in Hawaii, we describe high quality court positioning with your partner (in accordance to where the ball is on the opponent's side) as "marrying". I always tell my partner that we have to move together like a married couple. Also, your bloopers are hilarious as usual! LMAO! Catherine and Athena are such down-to-earth great people with fun energy!

Thank you so much! I have been wanting to make a video covering this exact subject. You saved me a lot of time!😅 One minor note... When you mention that you don't necessarily have a string attached, you actually did demonstrate that the two partners should both have slid left to the other respective lines, so they were still approximately the same normal distance apart. One other element that I might suggest... When a ball is near a sideline, the person covering middle can rotate their hips a little bit so they are a little more square to the ball versus perfectly parallel to the net.

I watched this a while ago and we have been using the figure eight drill. It really helps. When I am playing with a new person I like to warm up with it to get our feet moving. You guys are awesome. Thank you

This is the first time I really understood the process for court coverage. Well done on explaining it! It makes perfect sense to me now. I will give it a try next time I play. The highlighting graphics really helped me follow what you were talking about in the moment too. And, please...keep posting the bloopers at the end. I love them! You guys are the BEST! Catherine, best of success in the coming tournament! WIN-WIN!

There's plenty of video explaining this for the ambitious 3.5 to 4.5 crowd, but this one is the best yet for the 3.25 players who continue to give the center white line too much credence.

When you say high percentage, as in going out or safer?

High percentage as in safer. You can hit a down the line shot thats left open more times then you can hit those tough angled cross court shots.

It’s better to show examples in the game and then tell and show behind the scenes how to do it and how not to do it.

great info but how does that apply if the ball is close to the center line? who is responsible if the ball is sped up up the middle?

Excellent. I am getting the idea of follow the ball. But I'm also thinking I don't want to be moving my feet more than I have too cause I'm supposed to be not moving when I'm hitting, right? So it seems a tricky balance honestly to do it like that. And the opponent will look to speed up whenever they can catch one of us moving.

Great video! Yesterday someone was upset with me because the opponents kept burning us in the middle. I'm a righty that was playing on the left and the ball was being hit by the player directly in front of me. I told her I couldn't take that shot with my forehand because I have to cover my line. After the game she proceeded to tell me that we needed to be squeezing the middle. The reality is, she wasn't even IN the middle! If she took her own advice and ACTUALLY moved to the middle, she would've been in position to take the shot with her backhand and we wouldn't have needed to have the conversation 😂.
