Best explanation I found in my whole life on how to use SQL. The CTE explanation alone is worth its weight in gold. People, don't get confused by the series title: this is much more than Databricks and Spark. This is a guy who really know his stuff and enjoys teaching... a true Jedi Master! Between Luke and Yoda

Love the exercises! Learned Databricks' plotting capabilities while completing the exercise. Please retain and expand the exercise element of your tutorials/notebooks. Btw, you don't need to join any original tables for the 3rd exercise; all the data columns you need are already in the t_salesinfo table that you created along the way.

Great video. Could you also include the information about location of newly created table in terms of physical storage and impact on persistence due to cluster start/stop operations
@BryanCafferky

by default tables will be stored on the DBFS, Databricks File System, the local Blob storage. Spark does not need to store data to be used, i.e. clusters work in memory so persistence is not affected. However, to access the data, you'll need the compute, i.e. a cluster. It will be wherever you put it. Make sense?

Thanks for the video. Is there a way to export the graph or map ?
@BryanCafferky

I don't think so but you can export the notebook to Jupyter for example. Not sure if the Databricks visualization stay in tact. See docs.databricks.com/notebooks/visualizations/index.html

When you create table out of view, will the table get updated when the corresponding view is updated ?
@BryanCafferky

If you load a table from a view it is separate from the view and changing the view will not affect the table. Of course, you could drop and re-create the table from the view whenever you like.

Are the accesses to these SQL tables and views limited only to the Databricks user account which creates these or are these globally available across all Databricks user accounts in a project environment?
@BryanCafferky

They are available to anyone with access to the cluster which would usually mean anyone with access to the Databricks workspace. You can set table access permissions. See this link for details.docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/administration-guide/access-control/table-acl
