Flipjenner27 so are you saying that wing chun must be "no elbows, no knees, no leg control, no groundwork, but only bong sao pac sao and punch every fucking time? you searious? and the other 90% of the program??? this is SHIT
@Paul_R_

what do you think Ving Tsun is about? to do a big show, play around with your opponent? Philipp uses every chance to hit. and look how focused he is. and that is exactly what it is about. all the rest is just to get the way free for the punch. you want see some show? watch jackie chan, he is funny and does an amazing performance as stuntman ;)

In wing chun you make a person stick to you by being very aggressive in being close quarter, thus forcing bridge contact for trapping, as beautifully demonstrated by Sifu Bayer. His chain punching is superb with him skilfully controlling and attacking.

Wing chun people force close quarter fighting by cutting the ring off with stance work thus forcing bridge contact. Thats when skills from sticky hands come into play.

Some people are so deluded. The arguments are from the playground. How would Wing Chun fare in the street against a world class boxer etc etc etc because if you ever use Wing Chun in the street it will be against Pacquaio or Tyson Fury...Very likely scenario? Yeah right.... it's boring now........
@jogobonito1234

there are many Bayer videos on youtube, but they all show only vingtsun against vingtsun and in chisao situations... no way to find Bayer vs a common street attack... why?

Because the other fights ends quickly ( if the opponent don't now fight style like judo ) or because in this way we can see more than pacsao,punch or only beacause Maybe (i'm not sure )philip don't do MMA

When is Ving Tsun going to be put in a real test to other martial artists? Ving Tsun is all theory and fighting against same fighters. Little sparring, because your teachers tell you that you have to learn the basics and learning your basics may be over 5 years, LOL. There is no grappling, because you guys think you may not need it, but reality is really different, once it goes to the ground against experienced fighter with a bit of boxing knowledge, its over for you.

Alan Orr's MMA Team would be one example and another one would be Qi La La who is fighting with Wing Chun, some Xing Yi and BJJ as a professional MMA fighter. Wing Chun was developed by people living in mountainy areas or who spend a lot of time on boats. It is more focused around striking, but you could argue that the trapping is a kind of grappling where you control your oponent without holding on to him to not risk being controlled or taken off balance by trying to hold on to your oponent. Their are takedowns, but in the area where it was developed, groundifghting was pretty much nonsensical because there was no space for it. It is also a very weird concept to think of combat sports as real fights.

@@jadenmanuelmusic The sad truth is, he is probably not. Most of these people complaining about Wing Chun saw this one video where Xu Xiaodong beat up this on scammer pretending to be a Wing Chun Master and now they all believe that this one video demonstrates that Wing Chun is bullshit because most of them missed the bit about Xu Xiadong challenging not whole styles but specific people who obviously were scammers, to show they were full of shit. Also in all honesty. A professional fighter who usually trains for hours and hours to fight in a ring, obviously will beat the less experienced and trained fighter, in a ring fight, no matter the style.

The next time you visit such instructors, bring some non-Wing Chun guys to spar with them and see if this kind of sticky-hands is workable on them. Most chunners do not realize it works 'beautifully' because they are all behaving in the same artificial and awkward manner. If a non-chunner were to be in this video, he wouldn't be able to do most of the things you see here because the non-Wing Chun guy wouldn't 'stick' like them.

***** Sticking hands and sparring are two different things. Sticking hands is only a training tool for training your balance and structure etc.

i thought its enough someone to eplain the purpose of "chi sao". and as he says in the video (and he agrees to you in that point) : chi sao doesnt work in a fight. its just "sensitiviry" is trained, you react on gaps and so on. personal experience, as a wing chun student: its not about the enemy sticking on me, but myself who is "chasing" the enemy. "closing the gap"/"building a bridge" is even the name of one of the 3 the wing-chun-forms. i hope you see what i mean. (english is not my first language...not even third)
