Ok, no laughing please. I replayed the section on the vine bobbins 4 times and each time I heard “Crab King” as the vendor you purchased them from. 😂 I figured it out though. What a find! I’ll be using “Crop King” in the future. Thanks!!!

@@contmangeryou weren’t kidding about the shipping cost. I tried to order a sample of Bato box covers (6) and 8 of the bobbins. Less than $10 for the order. The shipping cost turned out to be almost $20 for UPS ground. 😮 Had to cancel the order and go elsewhere.

I was surprised to see the amount of leaves that you remove from your tomatoes. Your vines are loaded with beautiful tomatoes.

Yes, you can remove all leaves up to 11 segments down. Remove in 3 not all at once or you will stress the plants... wait a couple of days between pruning if you have lots to do

Great video. I have so many questions. 1. You had T5 lights and are replacing them with florescent bulbs. Would I be correct in saying that both T5s and florescent bulbs are only for non-fruiting plants? 2. How do you heat your greenhouse? Are you in a warm area? 3. I haven't checked your other videos, but do you do vertical hydroponics as well? Which do you prefer? Anyway, I'm going to go through your videos. I've had an outside garden for 20 years and really love the idea of hydroponics, since it allows you got grow food year round.

I replace the T5 with LED. I heat my greenhouse with NG and I have a wood boiler backup. I prefer NFT channels just easier for me. Enjoy the rest of the videos if you have more questions ask away!!!

What was the estimated cost of upgrading your fixture to LED and where can you buy those lights? Are they special growing LED's?
@HomegrownPassion
7 ай бұрын
each bulb was 11 bucks there are 6 bulbs. As a general recommendation, choose a full spectrum grow light with a color temperature in the blue range (5,000 - 7,000K) to promote vegetative growth and choose a color temperature in the red range (3,500 - 4,500K) to promote fruiting and flowering. These are being used in the nursery channel, so we want vegetative growth. The bulb life is 50,000 hours.

How many buckets / feet over are you laterally training your tomato's down before you let them shoot up the bobbins?
@HomegrownPassion
7 ай бұрын
So, as I lean and lower the tomatoes stems just follow around the end of the buckets. By the end of the year, they are 50 + feet long. I lower in a clockwise direction.

Could you suggest good varieties of cucumber and height of green house should be?!
@HomegrownPassion
2 ай бұрын
Not sure about height. Tyria and Poniente grow really tall, and I just let them go up to the wire and back down to the floor keeping them supported with the trellis system. Seems to work fine. I just try and keep the bottom couple of feet clear of leaves when they get bigger to increase air flow around the base of the plants

We prefer Persian or Lebanese cucumbers
@HomegrownPassion
7 ай бұрын
The main difference between Persian and English cucumbers is the size - Persian cucumbers typically range from five to six inches, while English cucumbers have an average length of 12 inches. There is a very slight difference in taste, but since English cucumbers also have virtually no seeds, they're interchangeable with Persian cucumbers.
