Best to delegate the assignment. And print tracks as accurate as possible, then always come back for version 2 and 3 etc. also give the engineer notes and timestamps for certain tracks that need to pop at certain times

Keeping in mind that I really LIKE and absolutely respect Lurssen Mastering, and having really enjoyed every nerdily informative aspect of this video, have to say it also amused me: man, SO many words & adjectives, it's like each inch of cable in that desk got its own 5000 words essay... No offence but I've watched seminars on cold fusion that sounded simpler & less oversold than that 27Hz low cut! 😉😉😂😂 When they said "five tenths of a dB" instead of simply "half a dB" or "0.5dB" it was pretty indicative of how rocket-science-zen-mystic a lot of this was worded, even though obviously passionately. The head bobbing sections werre hilarious, too (especially the young guy in the white shirt) - one would have perhaps liked to see the playback & capture DAW screens and metering, instead?! 🤷🏼♂️ BTW the YT compression and/or the final level boost & limiting of this video sadly still make those chorus drums sound well squashed compared to the drums in the choruses, at least on my end. Curious to hear the song when rreleased, in better resolution. Anyway, thanks for the fun and informative video. Lurssen rocks! 🤘🏻👍🏻

Its the icing on a cake i suppose or maybe the box that the cake comes in or maybe even the delivery guy that dropped the box, with the cake in, at you house...it all matters to some degree or another...and if you have the budget to get the best, icing/box/delivery driver then you gonna get that...and those people involved in those elements are hopefully gonna be passionate and be able to wax lyrical about their great box design or the wheels on their delivery truck and what they bring to the table..encouraging people to spend money on their talents..big love to all icing manufacturers, box makers and delivery drivers.. Ultimately i love certain cakes and hey if they come in a nice box and a great delivery guy drops it off then whats not to like. But then again sometimes you go to a friends house, open a cupboard and find an unboxed cake with no icing and its sooooo good it just blows your taste buds away...and you think.... it really wouldnt of made any difference if this cake had icing...or a box..or been delivered by the friendliest driver..mmmm hungry now. Wonderful stuff Warren❤

You should try to get in contact with Peter Tagtgren for an interview. Theres not much info about his recording techniques and process. He has such a unique massive sounding production style and I always wanted to know more about how he does it.

The problem with this track is not the low end alone and still remains. The drum samples (timbre, attack and compression) in the verse are so different from the chorus. The drums in the chorus sound over compressed and filtered, the kick and snare doesn't have bite, the crashes and cymbals don't have presence or ring in the treble range on the chorus section and it makes the chorus dull and sound weird, because the drums even simpler, sound more exiting on the verse, should be the opposite. That's what I hear.

Thanks ever so much for your opinion. As a mastering engineer you can of course give mix notes of you believe you can’t master the song the way the mixer/producer/artist intended it. However, most of the time the mastering engineers job is to respect their artistic vision. The great mastering engineers know how to navigate this really well!
