This is honestly the best ret guide on KZitem. Thank you for explaining how all the talents interact. You made everything really clear. Great guide!

I love this video and the breakdown of the reason things are where they are in the rotation. I would love a video like this for Shadow

Thank you! lol, I was waiting for someone to say Shadow. It is by far my least played spec and I haven't played my priest much since MoP, but I'm willing to give it a go. It might be awhile until I get comfortable enough with Shadow and research everything from the recent rework to make a video on it but I'll add it to the list.

@@averagej9668 haha of course! I'm in the same boat, I just decided to switch to it for season 2 because it got a rework and it's my least played character even though I was a priest many for years....that was many years ago and now I'm rusty.

Thanks! I haven't seen anything like a CLCRet addon recently. Even when I googled it I don't see anything more recent than 5 years ago. The Ret rotation currently is pretty forgiving from my own experience. Just keep track of how much HP you have and don't waste it.

i have a few questions. If using Elementium Pocket Anvil should give more priority to templar strikes than with different trinkets ? another question is how to sim Ret for m+ ? because from what i heard ret paladins dont use dungeon slice.

is it important to make sure every HP spender you press is enhanced by a greater judgement debuff? since the new t-set enhances judgement, i wonder, if it wouldn't be a good idea to talent into the +10% more judgement dmg talent in the 2nd row of the ret tree and use the talent, where judgement gets 2 charges instead of building 2 HP? so you can profit more from the t-set, or do we get enough judgement debuffs, after we get the 4pc bonus?
@averagej9668

Yes, Highlord's Judgment appears to be better in some testing I just did. I am finishing up a video that talks about this and hope to have it posted today. The thing is that WoWhead and Icy Veins single target guides vary slightly. Icy Veins goes with Highlord's Judgment and parsed higher with Final Verdict doing a lot more damage.

I've always liked Crusade. It just seems like the better option on paper. But no one takes it in any situation. Why is that? It lasts longer, and ramps up quickly if you plan it well. Feels almost like lust when it's fully ramped. 20% crit chance doesn't seem compelling to me, when it has no effect on two of our best abilities.
@averagej9668

I actually made another video where I compare AW: Might and Crusade. Crusade does much better for burst damage situations but Might was better in a longer fight. It really comes down to cooldown time. You can use AW Might twice as much which gives more uptime for Hammer of Wrath usage. Depending on your playstyle, Crusade is totally viable.

So as I understand holystrike damage is still holy damage so it benefits from mastery. What about right side of talent tree for m+ when you turn most abilities into radiant damgae? radiant isin't holy , is it?
@averagej9668
Жыл бұрын
Radiant is one part Holy. Holystrike and Radiant damage are multi-damage types. Holystrike damage = Physical + Holy and Radiant damage = Fire + Holy. So both damage types benefit from our mastery since they have a Holy component to them.

I dont understand why 90% of paladins pick Templar Strikes over Crusading Strikes. Why to have another one filler button to press, which is responsible for 2-3% of your damage? In raid encounters you constantly move and you rarely will see actual opportunity to use TS. CS in other hand have a good use of haste stat, less buttons to press, have THE SAME dps (per wc logs).

Mosty bcs of sure crit to proc ring from vault And crusading was nerfed
@MrStilgaron
Жыл бұрын
@@rgytos yeah I was nerfed and now its on the same level with TS. I think it's just influence of min-max logs and overall bias over "it's nerfed means it's not good" mentality. You can find few paladins in m+ and raid mythic logs who use CS and they are in top 100 dps paladins world.

For the video I wanted to stay consistent with what the community has decided to be the recommended build from sites like WoWhead and Icy Veins. From what I read during my research, it sounded like Crusading Strikes currently under performs. I was bummed when I read that since I would love to have one less ability to use. Maybe it's time for a build comparison video! :)

So how many finishers can you get in a 12 second Exe-Sentence window? 4-5?
@averagej9668
Жыл бұрын
4 to 5 sounds about right. - If you hit multiple targets with Divine Toll that would be 1. - Wake of Ashes with a Hammer of wrath would be 2. - Judgment with Blade of Justice would be 3. - Then more Hammer of Wrath with Templar Strikes could easily get you a 4th. - If you get Art of War procs or Hammer of Wrath resets from Final Verdict then I can see a 5th finisher happening. It might be tight with the global cooldowns though.

Thank you for the guide, just one question, On my ret, 417 ilvl, i have 20% mastery, 24 hast, 20 versa but only 16 Crit, What do you think?
@averagej9668
Жыл бұрын
20% versatility is awesome. 4-5% less crit doesn't sound bad but you probably want to check stat weights to be sure. You make up some crit with Avenging Wrath:Might. I wouldn't worry as much about having lower crit than I would about having lower other stats like haste.
@rgytos
Жыл бұрын
From my expiriance you want to Have around 21haste atleast 18mastery between 20-25 crit And As much As you can of versa rn if they dont take back that 0.7 Mastery nerf
@markuslc1888

haste gains value in st, mastery gains value in aoe, so if it's a ff week, and you go to AA or NO, playing with the right side of the tree, empyrian power mastery becomes a bit stronger. but there is one good thing about ret atm, all 4 sec stats are good, crit also has a bit more value in aoe than in st.

The class side of the talent tree remains the same. On the Ret side of the tree, drop the pure single target talents like Divine Arbiter and Execution sentence to pick up Searing Light on the other side of the tree and switch over to Final Reckoning. Talents like Blessed Champion and Blade of Vengeance are pretty awesome. You can import this build and give it a try.
