can any one tell me what was 'lovable' about Thaws version of Morse? Grumpy, mean with money, mean with appreciation of his sergeant, Lewis. A mumbling fool with women, a music snob and an inverted snob with any one successful? Yet Shaun Evans says it was a challenge to play anyone so lovable? Am I wrong?

Well, the boss was always calling him drunk and saying opera can't solve crime et., tries to knock him off the case & Morse just looks at him & keeps going. Solves the case.

@@RyanKeane9 Yes exactly and a good and honest man who deserved a better hand than he was dealt. Which is human and realistic not everyone gets the fairytale ending

I couldn't see it. I've watched "Lewis" and now "Endeavour", but I can't watch Morse. I've never been a big fan of John Thaw and his Morse just comes across as too dislikeable.
