I remember watching this match, it was incredible. Clips a touch biased towards Ronnie, seems to show a lot of Higgins' misses, so I can't really understand how people could call Higgins lucky based on this clip. Higgins played unbelievably to be 5-3 up after Ronnie's tournament high breaks of 138 & 139 in the first two frames (who by the way was also fantastic). He went from 3-0 down to 5-3 up, this BBC montage doesn't really show any of that all though I still really enjoyed it.

One of the truly great masters finals, i really was open mouthed on the edge of my seat watching that match, i also put a hundred quid on Higgins to win at the start of the tournement, he was 7/1, That aside, incredidible game, both players at the top of their game, fantastic. Because the fact remains that John Higgins is 1 of the greatest snooker players of all time, he's been the best snooker player of the past 5 years, and he is somewhere in the top 3 greatest that's ever picked up a snooker cue. He's not the best breakbuilder ever, and he doesn't have the greatest safety game ever, but he is the best allrounder who doesn't have a weak facet to his game. There's no other player you can say that about. Every player in history has at least one weakness, John Doesn't

@@alanunaiomen5306 I asked a question. And it does seem true, Ronnie requires John to be below his best to beat him. Whenever John is playing his best or both are playing their best, John always seems to beat him. This match is evidence and so is their most recent masters match.
@alanunaiomen5306
2 жыл бұрын
@@Ganstaz003 Again it doesn't work that way. Why you assume Ronnie played his best this game? Maybe this was Higgins' best play vs Ronnie's worst, and it still was very close in the end. Of course that's not true, but I just showed you how you can interpret such a thing to fit your narative. John Higgins is a legend of the game and a great player himself. I would rank him 3-5 after O'Sullivan and Hendry. Peak Ronnie is also not a time period necesarry, as people who have watched snooker for years know that Ronnie unfortunately hasn't been the most profesional player, especially in the 2000s. And as you probably know by now, Ronnie at his best is a beast, he just gives you no chance. When in a sport like tennis let's say, number 100 in the world beats number 3 in the world. Do you then think that number 100 in the world at his best is better than number 3? Or a small team from second division beats a team from first division. Does it mean that team is better? Of course not. Teams/people have bad days. Their oponents have good days. You can't just see a match and decide after just a match who the better player is. Form is also an extremely important thing. Fluke/luck plays a part as well in snooker, soccer, etc. Even in chess it can play a part.. if you are unlucky enough to enter a line that your opponent has prepared very well (and this things do happen sometimes). Also you have to look at someone career, trophies, direct results etc. but in the long run. English is not my first language so I am sorry for the mistakes i've made or if this is hard to understand because how i phrased it, but i hope you get it.
@RaymondBriggs666

@AntiFanBoy1 Ronnie anit world no 1 anymore but he is the man to beat what ever tournament, John Higgins is the only man that can take on ronnie but he anit better then ronnie specially when ronnie is on overdrive mode he is unstopable, John won most of the matches against him only cause of Ronnie's lack of concentration, & John Higgin is a underdog any player plays [ronnie world no 1] or not would be thrilled to beat him & give all they got, same with the underdog nothing to lose.
