how 6.25 becomes 7 when rounded up....it was supposed to be remain 6 since after decimal it was 2 lower than 5 which is still the yardstick for elevate the number before decimal.... please explain and do correct me....With regards
@brickbrick8299

It always has to be the next position in this case, meaning that it should always be rounded up, even if the decimal is lower than .5

Say there are 8 test grades. 90th percentile would be 8th position(as .9*8 =7.2). That wouldn't make sense because above 90th percentile, we can't find the value

result will be 24.75th value... it is not whole no so 25th value will be taken which is 105...how we can take 105 as 99th percentile bcz 100% values are below this

There are 25 numbers, you need to count again.

68 isn't on the plot. 69 is the 20th percentile.
@Edward-oe2yj

It does not need to be a number that is in the data set. The 20th percentile just means that 20% of the data is at that point or lower, and 80% is at that point or higher. It makes no difference if a something from the data is at that point itself.
@chikaodiliobi4198

You can get a median that isn't on the plot by taking average. No problems
@richardhayongo4970

hello madam , I don't agree with you on the 25th percentle as 75.The correct answer for 25th percentile should be 72. soln 25/100(n+1) 25/100(25+1) 25/100(26) 0.25(26) 6.5 6.5.....6th number and 7th number which is 69+75/2 144/2 72
