Excellent video. 40 hrs after 5 months. Analyzing more deeply, you're right:. In my opinion that's a minimum.

Now this is a great video. Unless you wanna make a career out of martial arts then it's achievable within 5-8 years.

But I don't count myself as very traditional, as the traditionalists generally want to burn me at the stake 😁😂🤣

Hmmm, interesting thoughts. Have you watched Jesse Enkamp’s Black Belt Myth video recently?

Randy Brown Mantis Boxing & BJJ He discussed with Sensei Seth how belt gradings were primarily school dependent in terms of curriculum, and that belts are primarily significant in your school, not so much outside of it. To me, this a good way of thinking about it, since Judo, Karate, and BJJ tend to have different grading standards, at least from what I have been told. It may be more helpful if they watch the video itself, I cannot give a link because KZitem has been acting strange recently about dropping reference links.

I think black belts don't really mean anything when that's the only thing you want to get out of training. Now you just see a bunch of schools handing black belts to five year olds which i find ridiculous

NoverMaC - I agree with you, and I used to shun belts many years ago for that reason. Until I got into Jiu-Jitsu and saw that, a belt and what it means, is what we make it. Anyway, I wrote something a couple years ago after taking part in a conversation between 3 school owners from different styles.
