Beautifully performed... Keeping the Samoan tradition "Fa'a Samoa" in a Country born away from the Motherland is a great Challenge. But like us when we were young...Speaking the Samoan Lingo at home and learning the Culture was an eye opener. even though we classed ourselves as "KiwiMoan" (N.Z born Samoan)....Juggling the 2 Worlds of Culture (Samoan & European) was a challenge but at the end of the day, "IT WAS ALL WORTH IT"...Malo a le tu malosi i Measina ma Fa'a Aganu'u Samoa. Be Proud and Humble in Pride of your Culture, It's what Clothes us and Identifies us of "WHO and WHERE we come from through our Parents Bloodline. "POLY-PROUD...POLY-PRIDE"

These Samoan dancers who live overseas would never have danced this good if it wasn't for the big help by Mary-jane Schwenke who is running a dance school for not only Samoans but also for other pacific cultures. Glad to see how they do the Samoan siva so well in fact better than most Samoans who live in the islands.

Keith Dawson the oil on their bodies don't represent Samoan culture, you stupid puki'o. It represents purity of the young ladies. Not only Samoans use the oil on the girls doing the taualuga.

the oil on the body represents your virginity. if you don't have oil on yourself, you are not a virgin. whenever we have a taualuga, the dancer must be a pure virgin.

Bullet Boom Boom “cousins” 🤦🏽♀️. and it’s better like that because most palagis don’t even know how to care for a poly guy lmao
@TM686K
4 жыл бұрын
Mixxed Honeyy I’d rather not be inbred. You do have a point though, Island guys think dating palagis is like dating Island women, just choose one you like and you’re set they already know how to do fe’aus and look after kids and grandparents etc. I always teach my poly brothers to be smart when dating outside, not every race has the same hardworking upbringing and unconditional love for our elders that we have. Same thing with poly women, I’ve seen dozens of polys never seeing their parents because their palagi partner doesn’t like visiting them. Some Palagis can do the culture and some others can’t you just have to be observant.
@divinity481
4 жыл бұрын
Bullet Boom Boom idk maybe it’s just me , i was raised into a strict samoan family . not allowed to date out of the race because our culture should never be forgotten . sum like that
@TM686K
4 жыл бұрын
Mixxed Honeyy You can still maintain your culture dating outside of your race. You just have to make sure they are willing to embrace Samoan culture and not take you away from it. Hard to find those sort of Palagis though thats for sure. I told my cousin the moment his palagi wife started stopping him from seeing his parents just leave her, he didn’t listen. He hasn’t seen his parents for years and I know it saddens them but thats on him for not picking up on the toxic signs.

Can I ask why the girls don't sing the songs themselves? They would of had to traditionally, so why not now? Seems to ruin the atmosphere when watching in real life having to wait for a song to start.

As a Tongan we don't sing as we dance and it looks beautiful, but I do love it when Samoans lip-sync as they dance, makes it look more like a performance, my 2cents.
@amipiovesan1105
7 жыл бұрын
Usually there is a choir or a group that sit and sing behind the girls. That hardly happens now a days due to performances as such where you can't take your singers around. The girls don't sing their hearts out when dancing, it takes away the beauty of the dance it self. Traditionally? they never sang and danced, a taupou had her singers behind her :) Anways.... well done to the lovely ladies who stood there so graciously while waiting for the music. Thats life, sh!t happens, its not the end of the world!
