Maned Wolves are my favorite! No. 2 is the Grey Wolf and No. 3 is the Spotted Hyena. Three different dogs, the awesome examples of how to survive both with and without help from is hoomans.

I think you may be surprised to learn that hyenas aren't dogs at all. They're actually feliforms meaning they're on the cat side of the carnivoran tree. Hyenas are Viverroids, and are most closely related to animals like civets, mongoose and meerkats. It's also questionable to call a maned wolf a dog, since domestic dogs come from wolves, which the maned wolf is not.

PaperDragon Thanks for the info! Yeah, calling them dogs was a miss on my part. I was going off how they look rather than genus/species. That hyena fact is kinda mind blowing. Again, thanks for the facts and corrections!

Not to sentimentalize animals, but does in vitro fertilization for animals actually result in good social bonding? When humans seeks in vitro it's because they want kids but can't have it the regular way for whatever reason ...and the kid that results is wanted. Presumably part of the reason animals don't want to mate is because instincts drive them to recognize certain environmental factors aren't favourable for reproduction or something, and they don't "want" offspring. Like would they reject the babies?

The tale of maned wolf being in danger is just another lie. The maned wolf area in South America gone triple and it's population increased among years. Maned wolfs is originated in areas that never had forests (more like hot savanas). The locals sees them as plague controllers due to it's and diverse food chain and even as frendly domestic animals. This animals are naturaly breeding in South America, no need to all this lab breeding costy project. BTW, the fact zoos and labs are handling maned wolfs in North America just don't makes sense and really lights a alert on why, and the real reason this experiments are being held.

Habitats gone from factory farming animals. Stop factory farming and save many species like this, as well as millions of animal lives lost in factory farming for your hamburger.
