Hello Everyone! In this video you’re going to see How we Made DIY Clinometer. Let’s Start!
Materials needed:
• Protractor
• Drinking straw
• Tape
• Thread
• A weight (e.g eraser, coin, etc)
PROCEDURE:
1. Prepare the materials needed.
2. Tape the straw at the base line of the protractor,
3. Get a thread and cut some and slip it between the straw and the protractor and tape the thread in 0° (ensure that the 2 end of the thread meets).
4. And for the last step, strap or tie the eraser using the 2 ends of the thread that you taped earlier.
HERE’S A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO USE IT:
- First, measure your eye height starting from your feet
- Second, measure the distance of your spot from the door
- And lastly measure the angle using the hole of the straw in your clinometer.
Given:
Let x be the height of the eye level to the tip of the door
╰ Eye Height is equal to 1.6m.
╰ Distance from the door to my spot is 1.7m
╰ An Angle of 75° measured from the Clinometer.
Solution:
To get the Angle of Elevation,
╰ 90° - 75° = 15°
╰ Angle of Elevation is 15°
(TOA) Tan 𝜃 = opposite / adjacent
╰ distribute all terms.
Tan 15° = x / 1.7m
╰ Cross Multiply
x = Tan15° x 1.7m
x = 0.46m
╰ Add the computed value of x which is 0.46m and the eye height.
Total height = x + eye level height
Total height = 0.46m + 1.6m
Total height = 2.06 m
∴ The total height of the door is equivalent to 2.06 m.
