Is that something I can just change on the mic? (H5 zoom). Like an adapter? A setting?

@@k-theory8604 since it's a field mic, there might be settings for a noise gate, then again, they're generally meant to pick up as much information as possible, so maybe not, which is probably why you're getting so much ambient noise in the first place. The easiest way I know how to fix it would be in post-production in a DAW. All you would have to do would be to look for noise gates in the filters sections of the FX and choose which ever sounds best (you might have to adjust the threshold amount, to make sure you're taking out enough noise and without taking the signal). You want 'soft' here if possible so things don't just harshly cut in and out. Hope that helps! I've been enjoying your series on Sheaves, very helpful for me, so thanks for your work!

@@mcurtisallen Awesome, thanks! I'll give that a shot and try to re-upload. I was hoping to avoid doing as much editing as I used to... Is there any chance this is a hardware issue? Most (all?) of my sheaf theory videos were recorded using the field mic, but it was connected to my laptop with a usb and used at close range. In contrast, the interview I had the field mic connected to a cam corder via a male-to-male headphone jack. Could the connector be the issue?

Could be your set up, but couldn't really say. If it persists for future uses you might want to do a little experiment by eliminating some variables to get a better sense.

Might also just be a setting on the field recorder

If universities paid PhD students enough that they could get their own chairs, I'd spend the money on a standing desk 😜

Langlands program is an American thing. The true beginning of this cultural phenomenon is Bourbaki. But truly, the concept of (1) Number theory and geometry being canonically distinct, independent (2) as a matter of faith, can be unified, May imply a mysticism being read into the hypothetical event of intellect upon the hypothesized unification. This could be considered the main crux point in mathematics where mysticism is read into the field: The potential unification of these two subdisciplines. So one must consider how this theme existed in Greek mathematics and also Islamic mathematics, Where the God-concept is explicitly understood as a non-human phenomenon. This particular mathematician: Imm not racist, But this information she is displaying to the audience could, or could not, be demonstrative of the personality-of-faith Put into a unification movement: such as the American, langlands programme. This is not the most common personality, and is not necessarily representative of the heart of mathematics.
