Hello everyone! I hope you found this to be helpful, especially since this is the time of year when a lot of homeschool parents start researching curriculum and solidifying choices for the upcoming school year.

Thank you so much!!! These are actually the two I’m debating between for next year (although a different grade), so it was awesome to see a comparison of the two curricula. I think we are going to go with Math Mammoth, as well, as my son just wants to do the work and be done, and gets annoyed if we have to play games before he can do the work lol. Thank you!

This was fun! My older girls use MM, and I do like it for them well. My little boys have used MWC, and I am not sure how we will move them forward in the future. Both such good curriculums!

I was using Math With Confidence Level 1 and Level 2 with my son and daughter this last year. I have an 8, 6, 4, and 2 year old. And honestly, I tried SOOOO hard to love MWC. And I did enjoy some aspects. It's very sweet to do with young kids, sometimes. But, it was a lot to do with two kids in different levels. I found myself often, almost annoyed with all the physical aspects of it. Like, the writing things on index cards, and searching for the right playing cards to use with this or that game, or having to flip to find the directions in a different part of the book because I didn't remember how to play the game. All while, I hear a 2 year old dumping noodles all over the kitchen floor, or someone else did something to someone! AHHHH. I was like, just wanting to get to the point, and them being able to practice without a game or something. I enjoyed several things about it. I think if they had less physical annoyances (imo) with the manipulative aspects, it would be a little more tolerable for me. I thought we would try to still continue with it. We started back a couple days ago, and I found myself just wanting to chuck it out the window!! UGH!!! It's a little painful. Because it's a good program. Just doesn't suit our family currently, and I really need something hands on, that I can help with, and bring in the manipulatives and games if necessary. I bought Math Mammoth a few months ago to look through and see. And I'm hoping it will be closer to what we need in this season.

I wish math with Confidence would add color to their teaching guide. Ugh, hurts my brain. Lol

@@onecaffeinatedmom Oh, I’m sure it is. Black and white just isn’t my friend. Odd question, have you ever tried TGATB little hearts and hand science? I can’t figure out if I need multiple books since I have multiple Kiddo’s or not. Also, I’m not sure how I feel about it taking the whole year? Any thoughts?

Do you skip some things in one or the other in order to finish them in the school year?
@onecaffeinatedmom

@@Noeysearles So we started off with just MWC and did skip some lessons since it was evident he’d mastered the concept at this level. We didn’t skip any lessons in Math Mammoth though. I just didn’t have him do all of the problems in each lesson. He was still able to finish MM level 1 by the end of the school year.

@@onecaffeinatedmom ok cool. We got halfway through MWC 1 last year, so we're going to pick that back up, but I've been wondering if we should do something else, because it isn't challenging my son at all. But there are aspects I like, so combining them sounds interesting. Lol Thank you!

@@Noeysearles You’re welcome! Yea, that’s one reason why I decided for my son to just go ahead and move him to MM for level 2. I think he’s getting a bit more of a challenge with it even though MWC is definitely comparable as far as topics covered.

@@onecaffeinatedmom I know people say it doesn't need to be hard to be rigorous, but it just doesn't feel rigorous lol.

@@Noeysearles If you're observing that it, could be the case! On that note, there is no harm in adding a bit of a challenge. With both my oldest boys, I noticed that they needed to have that bit of a challenge in their studies so they don't get bored with it. For them, boredom has equated to eventually putting in little effort lol I would say that now our math setup is rigorous enough for them. I haven't done a video on it yet, but we do Math Mammoth primarily and Beast Academy online 2-3 times a week (about 20 minute sessions) for an added challenge.
