There is one aspect of Pontiff Sulyvahn’s story I feel many people overlook. On top of the stuff he did it’s very likely he was the who convinced the prince not to link the flame. At Highwall the statue in the courtyard with the first winged knight. Has a depiction of the prince with Sulyvahn’s bracelets and Profaned sword. Lothric is infested with Outrider Knights. As you climb the castle there’s also numerous Profaned Gargoyles. Hidden behind an illusory wall with an Outrider Knight there’s the Soul Stream spell. The description states… “Sorcery imparted by the first of the Scholars, when Lothric and the Grand Archives were but young. The first of the Scholars doubted the linking of the fire, and was alleged to be a private mentor to the Royal Prince.” All these things point to Sulyvahn having been the first scholar. This also isn’t his only bit of influence seen in Lothric. He’s the one that holds power over Irithyll Dungeon and what do we find there? A bunch of maggot corpses from the COTD but that makes sense he’s allied with Aldrich. Then we also find experimented on Dragon slaves but why? This is because Sulyvahn was taking these failed projects off Oceiros’ hands for him. It’s a good way to build up blackmail. The warp for ArchDragon Peak is in Irithyll Dungeon where we find dead Lothric Knights. The same stone tablets behind Oceiros’ boss room can be found in ADP along with the Serpent Men and Drakeblood Knight. I find it ironic the painting the gods created to imprison things they feared. Also spawned the individual that would be their downfall. Like Sulyvahn wasn’t even suppose to be there he wasn’t forlorn.

I just realized something super interesting thought I comment about it. In the Nameless King section Vaati is talking about Ricard who allied himself with Serpents after fighting against them. It reminded me of Rykard from Elden Ring who also allied himself with a serpent and let himself eaten by the snake and turned against the Erdtree and the Golden Order.

Mati, as you wonder near the start of the Patches section; there actually is a version of him in Sekiro! It's much less obvious that it's him, but there is a certain bald, shady individual who can become a merchant, who also wears an outfit that some would say had a patchwork design... Make sure to keep an eye out! Also, the Patches section made me realise something: in your DS3 playthrough your character, personality-wise, slowly morphed into Patches, obsessed with kicking everything

Hey Mati! Congrats for DS3 finish and taking the time for lore videos which make all those hours spent on this series more meaningful. DS3 was my favorite watch so far from your channel. Sekiro, in my opinion, is the logical next step in your From Software journey. I’m biased because my journey was the same as yours and Demon Souls is the only one I haven’t done yet. I’ll say just this. Although Sekiro will be a very different experience I hope you appreciate the side step this game does. Just on a gaming level, Sekiro will always be top tier for me. I became a better gamer after finishing it and felt like a parry god by the end. Whatever games you play dude I would just ask this. Choose the games that you’re really excited about. Not the games you think you should play but ones that really excite you. Because it’s your love of the games you play and your interest that has engaged those on your channel.

The Patches one goes a bit deeper in the DLC than Vaati mentions. You started Ringed City DLC at the crumbled away spot that Patches would have remembered Greirat being imprisoned in Lotheric Castle, and where you rescued Greirat. Greirat was confident enough of Lothric Castle as someone who wore the armor of a Lothric Soldier. The pilgrim in the DLC was actually the Firelink Shrine Handmaid you shop through. If you collected her ashes, you see her very ring in the icon. The ring of the Priestess, the high priestess of Lothric Castle, only acquired from the Untended Graves version of her, and content with the dark. She long desired the angels if her people in Lothric, and would be passed away being granted her wish. As if unwanting to move on from Lothric, at the very edge of it is where we find Lapp not bothered by such an angel nearby. The old woman even selling his weapon, and the Greatshield he has being the one found at Cathedral of the Deep on the way in. The Greatshield being the Curseward from DS2's Pursuers, said to grant resistance to curse.

you probably missed my comment in the original playthru video, but the statue in the corner of the yorshka church is a pilgrim stalking Anri, and after you talk to Anri then leave, the pilgrim kills her and prepares her for the ceremony. But you can kill the statue pilgrim and prevent Anri from dying. The pilgrim drops the Chameleon spell, which is a sorcery that turns you into a static object disguise (such as a statue or crate or something)

I think it's worth clearing up confusion about Greirat's quest. Greirat dies in the spider lady room unless he is saved by EITHER Patches or Siegward. To save him with Siegward, you have to buy the armor from patches, give it to Siegward, Kill Pontiff, send Greirat to pillage Irithyll, and then do not go to the Irithyll dungeon bonfire before you kill a boss. I usually go to Anor Londo and kill Aldritch, which is what Mati did. If you find Irithyll dungeon, it moves Siegward from his Irithyll position near the estus soup to his cell, where he can no longer save Greirat. To save him with Patches, you cannot buy any of the Catarina armor pieces and have to leave Siegward in the well for a little while. Then you have to tell Patches you sent Greirat to pillage Irithyll and kill a boss.

Patches is the furtive pigmy: he's unbreakable, doesnt need a strong reason to avoid hollowing, clearly stronger than he looks, he is elusive and furtive, 'humanity' does not affect him despite him being the most humane and deep down he is likely to share power than take as it is known the pigmy gave his flame to all humans and he sees darkness with great clarity.

Second play throughs and NG+ is definitely the best part about these games. Once you understand more of the world, even if it’s just limited to what you read and pieced together, it gives you a greater depth and appreciation for the world and bosses. Most of these games I’ve always started with a stubborn run (sometimes in offline) and then I’ll build a second character to really reevaluate the world and what I did previous. 💜

The crazy tree lady that attacks you in a beast like feral manner at the bottom of the Ariandel DLC map is a remnant of the cut Witch of Izalith fight from DS1. Before then ended up with the version seen in the final game, they originally wanted her to crawl around the arena and along the walls. I guess they still kinda reused that idea for Bloodborne and the fight with Laurence, but you can still tell that they never really made that style of fight particularly fun. 55:57 - I paused it here so I could get me a drink, and came back to see this ace. I am going to give you two tiny pieces of non-spoilery advice I wish I had been given. 1. Deflect deflect deflect!!!!! 2. Hold down L1 to recover your posture faster. Other than that, it’s on you. Such a fun, funny, challenging game. It’s also breathtakingly beautiful in parts. My advice is to do the Japanese version with subtitles. The English version is really cringey at some points.

I'll do Demons' Souls while you're doing Sekiro. I never really planned to play it so I watched some stuff on it a long time ago. I remember some stuff vaguely but none of the layouts or ambushes. But I like your stuff so much I decided if I'm going to ever play it I should get ahead of you. Had to tell the algorithm to NOT show me your stuff for DS3 which was pretty sad.
