Regarding the vehicle shut down we experienced, this is what Matter informed us - “The trigger you observed during your ride is attributed to the earthing detection around the horn area on the low voltage side, that activated a programmed fault protection in the vehicle. For this fault code the auto recovery was not enabled and same was to be restored with external restoration software tool in the pre-production batch. This was a minor fault; hence we continued the vehicle riding after testing. We have taken a detail approach for rectifying it in the production process so that the same would not occur in the real-world application.”

gearbox in EV makes sense to increase the range, by having taller ratio for the top speed and highway journey, it doesn't make sense for a city commuter where acceleration is key and not the top speed. They should remove the gearbox and reduce the weight, and go for a single speed gear ratio.

EV motors are efficient at high rpms too unlike gasoline engines lower rpm for motors is basically like lugging a gasoline engine it has to do with commuation losses high current requirments at low RPM less cooling at lower RPMS etc

The few people who say they’ll move to ev only if it has gears and clutch has never test driven an ev. And once you test drive any ev for example Tork kratos or Ather, you will see clutch n gears are not needed at all.

One suggestion to indian motorcycle manufacturers. Please give handle bars for naked bikes, and the flexibility to change those handle handle bars to different heights by giving enough slag on the wiring.

Curious about the Gear ratio for each gear position. Wheather 1st Gear is "Open gear" or Multiplies the Torque. A torque multiplier transmission is required on hilly regions in EV's too because although EV's has insane amount of torque at start, it wades off as the rpm goes up.

i guess this is a good baseline for a gen 1 product . If they are able to get some more custom tooling and build a new platform like aether then we could see a great product. I hope they make it till their gen3 product.

I really loved the motor + gearbox combo. 1) Gears definitely reduce the mechanical load on the motor (thus more efficiency). 2) Press/pull Clutch-select gear- release-throttle...one of the purest man & machine relation 😌❤❤ 3) Gears+motor undoubtedly make an ev much much lively thing. This is what gearbox lover's will enjoy rather than those EV's with 'single speed tranny/ Hub motor'.

Gears on EVs make sense only in one scenario, for vehicles that occasionally have to haul huge load, more than their own weight....for everything else, it's just added complexity, weight, inefficiency, maintenance.

It should be very simple for those mechanically inclined to see how any electric vehicle's torque can be used to keep the vehicle going without revving the motor like mad. So, if the motor can spin slower, while keeping the vehicle at high speed, the gears to play a role there, but the benefit should be either a higher top speed or far more range. Which of these is this bike trying to deliver? I'm very surprised that the science is on the right track, but the numbers are not yet there.

Apart from scooters, EV motorcycles need 2 gears only for Highway purposes.. EVs are quick till 40kmph, but we in future purposes need Highway Cruising and it's efficiency..

Absolutely not, electric motors internal combustion engines do not work the same, electric motors really do not need a transmission at all, except to go in reverse. The Tesla plaid out accelerates the bugatti, all the way up to a quarter mile distance, and it pops out at 200 miles per hour, with no gears......

@@gamelover11869 But the unicorn is gas. It kinda has to have gears. Gears add weight and reduce efficiency on an electric. But if you want to simulate gears, they could add a foot shifter that activates a switch to tell the motor act like it's shifting into a higher/lower gear. Programming would let the motor simulate how a gas engine accelerates, drops a bit as you're "shifting gears", and accelerate after you put it into the next year and "hit the gas". There's no need for the weight and complexity of an actual transmission to make an electric feel like it has one. But you'll have less acceleration because of the power drop during the fake shifts, just like gas engines have less acceleration because of the lack of power to the wheel while shifting.

The triumph engine weighs about 70-ish lb, and makes about 40 horsepower. (Half a HP per pound) A Tesla plaid hub motor weighs about 100 lb, and makes about 350 horsepower. (3.5 HP per pound)😊 And electric motors have almost instant full power, whereas a gas engine has to get up to several thousand RPMs to reach full power.

I love the fact that it has a gearbox. Without that i would have felt as if i am just riding a scooty 😂 Also... Gearbox increases efficiency and top speed. The only reason the top speed is just 105kmph is because they used a low speed motor. That pretty much decreases the overall cost and acts as a breakeven. Gearbox means you get faster acceleration with the same motor, and if the gear ratio is speed multiplier then a higher top speed as well.

It's really cumbersome, why did they added gear box to an EV?? It's just overcomplicating things. As you said in the video, most people tend to shift gears according to the sound of the engine. But, in this case, there is nothing like that. It would be much appreciated, if they had added quick linear acceleration instead of partitioning in gears.

People are already used to non gear bikes due to scooters. So giving gears to an electric bike sounds like a desperate attempt to stand out. And while the bike will stand out.... In the process they have compromised with some fundamental features of an electric vehicle like: Easy hassle free driving without gears, almost instant torque from stand still, low to almost no maintenance, unique designs possible due to the lack of mechanical motor.

Very good point about matter focussing on efficiency with gears but that extra weight from the powertrain is counterintuitive to their purpose as well as increase cost. Good idea but they need solutions especially lighter materials and that'll just increase cost🥲

A CVT is a transmission, and an engine is an engine, there's no such thing as a transmission engine. But yes, you could add a CVT to this, but it is completely unnecessary with an electric motor. In fact, any transmission is unnecessary with an electric motor. The Tesla plaid does 200 mph, and it out accelerates a Bugatti, and it has one gear.

Most bikers would not buy this because of one simple fact of low range. Bikes are meant to be ridden for long distances without any planning or preparation, so until someone comes up with a genius solution with atleast 300 to 500 kmpc, it's not worth the trouble.

The addition of gears and a clutch is senseless, they are adding unnecessary weight, cost and complexity, while also taking away from the efficiency. Overall the motorcycle is pretty decent for the price, but as mentioned by the video host, not ground breaking.. But more EV options are always a good thing.

It does make sense. 1, 2 gears simply reduce the mechanical load on the motor with increased torque so, sport mode should be a 🚀🚀 on the bike.

it must be inefficient to use gear transmission, engine oil pump, weight of these component, chain drive with more maintenance. My requirement for an ev bike: -150+km range -100kmph max speed -100+ km range for 70kmph avg. drive speed -retractable charge cable inside the bike -adjustable suspension (electronically adjustable ) -minimal maintenance -Best build quality -Ton of storage -Best UI -selecting mode should be a physical switch -panels made from stainless steel like cybertruck -Air drag should be minimal Price should be less than 1.5Lakh

Makes no sense. As per the video, gearbox is provided so that people can shift from older IC engine bikes to electrics. But then, why would an enthusiast of IC engine want to shift to electric if, as per the video, the bike was made keeping efficiency and range in mind. Also, if someone is buying a bike for efficiency, why would they look for a bike with a gearbox, and wouldn't the efficiency of this bike be more if there was no gearbox? This is the most confusing bike I have ever seen. Spending time reviewing this bike was a waste. Uploading the review on KZitem was a waste. Me watching the video was a waste.

The branding makes no sense, why call it 5000+? While the bike is sleek, the front feels too sleek for a motorcycle. IMO, looks like a bit like a raised scooter in the front end.

I got electric 2 wheeler. Okinawa it's a waste of money. Battery gone ₹40,000 for battery within 40 months of purchase. All advertisement of petrol vs electric bill is a non sense comparison. Actually no eco friendly and no pocket friendly and not a reliable vehicle's.
