I think the announcer said his first 200 was like a 21 high? So slightly slower second 200, but you're right, pretty dead on and not a big fade at all. The crazy thing is he made up all that distance in like 350 meters... had the other guy wrapped up well before the finish line.
@timn4481

@@Thomas-fk3cw i think the point being made is that boling doesnt try to make up the difference in the first 100..he takes his time and runs his race. you can see that his tactic is always cruise for 250m and then give it everything he has over the last 150..you can literally see his form change at about the 150m mark to go in every race he does

@aChristian4RonPaul

@paul hicks Oh really? Because as a 19 year old, Johnson ran a 46.29 seasons best in the 400m at Lafayette, LA on 11 APR 1987 and 20.41 in the 200m at Waco, TX on 17 APR 1987. On the other hand, Boling as a 19 year old ran 46.51 at Bloomington, IN on 16 JUN 2018 (he was technically still 18 and his 19th birthday was 2 days away) and 20.31 at San José (CRC) on 20 JUL 2019. Oh, what's that? Did you see that? Boling was a .1 faster than Johnson in the 200m? Say it ain't so?! Oh, and what's that? Johnson attended Baylor university for four years and ran track there? But Paul Hicks from the internet said he was running against top world athletes at age 19. So where was he during the 1988 Olympics when he was 20? He didn't make it? Hmm, so much for Paul Hicks' revisionist timeline. As to your question about how Boling was 19 and still in high school sports, the answer is he wasn't. He was 18. His birthday is in the summer, so he could either be one of the oldest in his class or one of the youngest, depending on when he started school. His parents chose for him to be one of the oldest. That choice happens for all kids that are born during the summer. Interestingly, Johnson and Boling only have a 3 month month relative difference, with Johnson's birthday being in September rather than June. In the future, you might want to check your numbers before you go running your mouth on the internet :) Fun aside, both Johnson and Boling are fantastic runners. Boling does have the potential to break any world record from 100-400, if he puts in the work like Johnson did. Johnson's junior year of college was a breakout year for him, where he broke the 200m U.S. indoor record and won the national title.

@paul hicks Really? Well, this is news to me. So if someone runs a 43 second 400 meter and another guy runs it in 44 second, who wins? The one with the lower time or the one with the better speed, pace, and class? When Usain Bolt broke the world record time, was he in jail? Remember, "time only counts when your in jail".
@aChristian4RonPaul
4 жыл бұрын
@paul hicks You don't have to figure out pace and speed. The time represents the total output. No, I wouldn't compare Matt Boling to Jesse Owens, since they ran on different track surfaces, had different spikes, and hand-time / automatic. You mentioned, "How can you figure Matt boiling against m Johnson when they never competed, it's stupid!"- you should ask yourself that, since you compared them in your initial reply in this conversation and then after as well. So why do you compare them?
