@@Angelface11 I truly am not willing to debate but respectfully disagree, as it is quite literally defined as a disease per the American Medical Association, it fits the diagnostic criteria for a disease. It's a divisive issue so again I don't wish to debate because it is objectively true that it is a disease, regardless of personal feelings about the definition. There isn't a debate over if diabetes is a disease because that's how it's defined by diagnostic criteria. *Recovery* is a choice. And a medical decision. Addiction is usually the symptom of a condition, not the root of the problem. And reminder that it is a genetic disease, creating predisposition. And environmental factors such as home environment, similarly lung impact of parental smoking in the home in childhood.

On a side note, I've been in chronic pain for 26 years. These types of doctors are why I can't get the type of pain medicine I need. Abusers and greedy, criminal doctors have affected people who are in real pain. _We're_ treated like criminals now.
@janicewingfield5245

Exactly! Us chronic pain patients are the collateral damage of the war on drugs. We go through legitimate channels for pain management and get treated like addicts. This situation is showing money speaks with shitty doctors like these two. Don’t even get me started on the CDC freaking “guidelines” for prescribing meds for CPPs. 🤬
@Onewayoflife75

Ditto Lisa, I used to be prescribed Oxycodone in liquid form to be used as needed (when in acute pain) rather than other meds for my chronic pain. Now they have withdrawn liquid form here in the uk, and will only prescribe capsules form which take a few hours to work… therefore, I’m having to take them daily, incase my acute pain arrives!?! I’m taking more of it!?! Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever….
@lots2learn373

I understand. Is it possible for you to get a referral to a Pain Management physician or clinic? Their practice is highly monitored and scrutinized by both governmental agencies (in the US, state and federal), and patient's insurance companies, but treatment is available. I suggest starting a journal to record your pain, its impact on daily activities, sleep, etc., as well as what exacerbates symptoms and what eases them. Your note taking can be as simple as a spiral notebook. These descriptions/notes will assist you in recognizing your own patterns/changes in symptoms, and to clearly relay your concerns. This assists the doctor in ruling out some further tests and/or selecting appropriate treatments. Don't give up and please don't get discouraged. Wishing you well: you, truly, are not alone.

I came to write the same. Pressure is being put on my legitimate college certified pain management trained physicians because of cases like this. I live in Canada 🇨🇦 so it may be slightly different, but the crux is the same. Fentanyl floods the streets of Vancouver, two provinces away from me, and suddenly the clamp down starts. While I DO NOT take fentanyl, the scrutiny has spread to all genre of pain medications, meaning it leaves those of us following directive in a precarious situation.

He was supposed to be having ketamine infusion therapy to treat depression and anxiety, but when GOOD doctors turned down his request for a higher dose, he unfortunately found these assholes who would say yes for the right amount of money. When I was a kid, Mathew Perry's stepdad, Keith Morrison, was first a journalist at our local paper the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, and then he became a television newscaster with CTV Saskatoon (QC8). He went on to national newcasting with CTV and then left and made his way to the US. I remember he was filled with steely determination and I hope he used that to push to have the mystery solved by the authorities. Matthew Perry tried so hard to get clean and sober, and to know that he was surrounded by people that fed the addiction instead of directing him to help and healing will stay with me forever. I hope all parties who have not plead guilty are found guilty and that their sentences are long and hard. I hope we will start pursuing those who supply drugs to regular folks with the same kind of fervour they did in LA for Matthey Perry.

This is just so sad and infuriating. Obviously each of us has ultimate responsibility for our choices and I've not heard anything to suggest that Perry was given anything against his will, however when people around him are openly acknowledging that he is an addict and then strategising to exploit that addiction for their own profit without any apparent regard for the harm it was doing to him, it's highly predatory behaviour. I hope the law can be used to send a clear message in this case.

Perry was an addict. He was not clean and sober but rather swapped out one drug for another. He apparently did not hit bottom regardless of what his history states. It's awful that he was unable to overcome his addiction. It is also awful that medical professionals and others were willing to take advantage of his willingness to consume drugs. On some level Perry knew that having an assistant without medical experience inject him with drugs was not going to get him clean. On some level Perry knew he was in very bad condition however for some reason he had no desire to put in the work to get out of the condition. Addiction sucks. It takes work to get out of. It is disgusting that there are people who prey on addiction.

In this particular case, because it is MP, his struggles were so very well known, he was so loved, so many millions of people wished for his recovery... It is not that is more heartbreaking it is just that makes it more clear how struggling with addition recovery should be a village effort, not a battle of one, because as seen, MP was a victim, not just of his own demons but worst of all of the predators that abused him.

This is typically RN, Respiratory Therapist and physician at the bedside as a minimum anytime giving something like ketamine and yes as it mentioned- code cart and airway equipment available. Document vitals, airway etc every 5 MINUTES until done administering it. In my town, we have dealers who specifically deal to people in the homeless shelter. Why, because the homeless/street-sleeping community have literally nowhere else to go. Very few non celebrities have the people around them that will help with the investigation, therefore making prosecution even harder than it already is. I agree about alerting social services when a parent presents in an er asking for the treatment, however, it was everything they did after the alert that was deplorable. Agree. I think we are blaming the wrong thing. If there is a demand… good luck stopping the supply. We’ve had drug wars for decades…what has it done?

No one cared enough ( his doctors and assistant) to help him and that's just so sad. RIP Matt Perry.

Indeed! People not abusing get punished 😢 or used. As in Matthew Perry's case. 😢

He knew it wasn’t legit treatment. He likely thought it would be safer because it was a doctor but he was abusing it 100%

What a bunch of BS! Ketamine is doing wonderful things for many people with addiction and depression and PTSD. How dare these “healthcare” professionals screw with all the good things that are being done to help people. All the government needs is 1 jackass to give them a reason to ya k it from the people who can really benefit from it. Very sad

Exactly. I take it for depression and PTSD. It’s truly changed my life. This whole thing makes me so angry.

@emilydbaker Thank you for this video. Since they were able to convict those responsible for Anna Nicole’s death and the people responsible for MP’s death will soon be convicted, how were the people who enabled and supplied Prince in his accidental overdose death able to evade prosecution.?

How does this case look similar to the Mac Miller situation?
