I saw Matthew Sweet perform last night in Jersey City. He was outstanding. He didn’t play this song, but it reminded me of this CD, which I used to have.

ELO turned background choruses into instruments. This is pretty damn good. Jeff Lynne was a frickin genius.

Jeff Lynne's song; originally recorded by The Move in 1972, UTOPIA recorded a live version of it in 1975, and then Jeff Lynne and ELO re-recorded the song for 1976's "New World Record".

The Move's cowbell heavy version was my wedding song. Unfortunately I blew it and it ended after 10 years. :(

I really enjoy the ending of this version. For some reason it makes me wonder what it would sound like if Alex Harvey and The Sensational Alex Harvey band did version of this song.( in the meantime Todd is God!)

This is actually a sound check...that's why after the sparse applause, he says, "thank you, both of you."

I hear Hillary Clinton is using this as her campaign theme song. Maybe I dreamt it. Maybe I shouldn't have ate that packet of mustard I found in the Arby's parking lot.
