Simply exquisite. Maura O'Connell, in my humble opinion, is the BEST interpreter of this song - EVER. Thank you!

Every time that I listen to Maura sing this I cry like a baby. Nothing else can make me cry. I am dying of cancer stage 4 and am trying to bring resolution to the close of my life. Lorraine Spence broke my heart but there is so much more. Don't wait folks until death is looking at you to bring peace into your life.

humm, she just placed that on canvas right before our ears! Took my breath away & it wasn't until almost to its end that I noticed tears streaming down the sides of my face. I don't think I've heard something this beautiful in years. P.S. someone posted that Maura needs to return to Ireland and "they" need her. Well, Maura's a perfect example of what (and who) made America great, so we'll keep her!

"The Water Is Wide" (also called "O Waly, Waly" or simply "Waly, Waly") is a folk song of Scottish origin. It remains popular in the 21st century. Cecil Sharp published the song in Folk Songs From Somerset (1906).

As a Irishman who has listened to many, many Irish female singers over the years I would contend that Maura O'Connell has her own very distinct voice compared to Orla Fallon. Unlike Orla Fallon who auditioned for an Irish export enterprise called Celtic Woman, Maura O'Connell honed her craft through hard work. Don't get me wrong I really like Orla Fallon. She is a fine individual singer and harpist I think. I like Celtic Woman but have to admit they were made for export.
@UndercoverCracker
3 жыл бұрын
@@jamesdolan4042 but Orla literally just has more haunting and beautiful voice. It doesnt matter if she was made for export or not. She was good enough that everyone would love her. Of course the new Celtic Woman is way more generic now.
