Maurice!!! What an artist! What a man! How many of us trumpet players has he inspired? Young, old, humble, gifted, we all owe him, whether we adorn the symphony or just keep the lines going in the community band. He's my man, I am an unconditional fan. He lives now and forever in a beautiful world of harmonious sound. Maurice for ever!!!!
Quite astonishing. I thought I’d heard all MA but this is stunning and without comparison

Unbelievable. I find it more impressive than variations on Carnival of Venice. Same flexibility required, just more than an octave higher. Even though it's a show-off piece he still makes it sound beautiful. I'd like to hear any other trumpet player try it.

@antoinetrompette It's Hummel's opus 102. Score is online, free, at imslp.org. To find it, simply google "imslp hummel 102".

Thanks for posting Jejean, this is one of the most extaordinary examples of the master's command of the piccolo trumpet. This piece, however is not a concerto. It is called "Introduction, theme and variations" and, as far as I know, was originally written for oboe. The form of a theme with variations became popular in the 19th century, as indicated by the numerous pieces that JB Arban included in his cornet method.
