The best way to remove the axile adapter on the drive side is to insert the axile on the non drive side and tilt it a little so that it touches the inside of the adapter cap; then just give it a sturdy tap and the cap will come off easily.

I think the video is rather vague! If this is service instructions, why some parts are removed from the original freehub?

Just pull it apart. Grease it. Reassemble in the opposite order. Not hard at all.

yeah, I agree with you. the instruction is not sufficient. I guess if we would like to use XDR free body (for SRAM e-TAP AXS ), we are not supposed to use the spacer of end of adapter... that’s why it has been removed... I guess. anyway, the video hasn’t mentioned about it.

My inner ratchet is stuck and doesn't come off. Any idea on how to remove it? My problem is that after a super muddy ride everything the grease became dirty and sticky everywhere, and my freehub stopped engaging. Any advice on how to solve this problem? I already bought a ratchet replacement kit, but can't currently replace the inner ratchet.

Hi. As its name says: it's function is to reduce noise by absorbing vibration and resonance by its soft compound. If you prefer louder mechanism, take it off, if not, leave it in place, as simply as that. No effect on the mechanism itself so no worries on or off. Txs. Enjoy the ride.

I'm having the same problem. What seems to be working is that I'm not tightening the cassette locking nut as much. I'm thinking that over-tightening the cassette nut compresses the free hub body to a point it slightly buckles, in turn creating enough radial deformation that keeps the ratchet from engaging. It's the only thing that's managed to get it to work again.

Hi. The 1st end caps were not tight enough. Now we also consider the cassette weight to have a tighter hold from the end caps so it's not happening anymore. Go slow when doing and it will be fine. No worries, it's not a defect. Enjoy the ride.

@mavic

Hi. Sorry, we've not tested the competitor's grease. Our user guide mention to only use Mavic special grease to preserve the mechanism. We've developed and tested it for hours and hours so we're sure it perfectly performs in our freewheel system. Its ingredients are especially developed to ensure a smooth functionning. Not worth trying non validated grease, does-it?
