Thanks for showing the set up. I’ve never seen those inner bar ends before. What a great idea. I’m normally a road bike rider but whenever I spend more than about 20 minutes on a flat bar bike my hands & fingers go tingly numb (but can ride drop bars for a whole day no problems). Bar ends on a flat bar help me (I’m guessing it helps by turning my shoulders out) but on an MTB they are too wide and non aero. Inner bar ends, now that’s a great option!

I was very impressed by them. I did the Mawson last time on an MTB and the lack of hand position options drove me bonkers!

Just back from Mawson Trail last weekend, Melrose to Quorn, to Hawker, to Wilpena. Wow. Mud, flooded creeks, washaways, the works. Fun! Keep up the great videos! Lots of good tips in these.

Hoooly moly! You were on the Mawson during the rains? I was up there too and did a day of riding before heading down to Melrose and the sky opened up. It was intense! Great work survivng that disaster. I know a few people who abandoned the Mawson because of the weather recently.

With those apidura feed bags (at least the new ones) you can pull the cords all the way tight and hold them together and hook them under the hook together (You can go either left or right) and it shuts reasonably ok

Did your WTB issues happen on the same wheel? Might there be a defect in the rim? I've run the WTB's with no issues..

Thanks for the video. What size are your Sea to Summit dry bags? I have the Blackburn cargo cages also and looking for a suitable bag.

Howdy Jamie, these were 6 litre bags. I don't recommend these cheap ones because they've got some holes in them from rubbing against the cages. Something more robust would hopefully last longer.

Nice setup! How do you handle sway on the seatpost bag?
@JustRideAdelaide

Sway is basically inevitable unless you have a stabilising system so my strategy is to put light items in the saddle bag. Things like clothes mostly. Pack any heavy things as close to the seatpost as possible, squeeze it all in tight, and crank your straps to hold it still.

I'm looking for some high capacity waterbottles. I keep seeing these Zefal bottles recommended but alot of the reviews talk about leaking issues. What is your experience?

I've had 4 Magnums over the years and one of them leaked. That was an older bottle. I haven't had any problems with the ones in this video.

This bags on the front suspension, there are no mechanical gaps?

Mechanical gaps? No gaps on the fork because they're fully rigid.

What are your thoughts on straight vs drop H/bars for this style of riding? Thanks Heaps

I'd love to get a gravel bike so I can run drop bars. I prefer the more forward position because I do most of my riding on road. Something like a Salsa Cowchipper bar would be great. That said, there's a few advantages to flat bars. You have more real estate to mount things and you can fit a big wide front bag if you want. But for sure I'd prefer drop bars if I had infinite money to build more bikes!
