So I'm new to Max, been watching your tutorials and they're wonderful. Question though, how do I get to these instructional templates in Max, that have all of these pre-built patchers to play with? To elaborate, I'm trying to find that envelope object where you're adjusting the ADSR in a visual way, and no amount of googling has led me to the answer. Thanks!

I'll be making these available in the next month or so. The object I've used for the envelope is [function]. And thank you, btw!

Hello! Great tutorial! I was just wondering if it would be possible to get the same effect but using a playlist~ object rather than a kslider? Thanks!

I have created a standalone App. in MAX-MSP, but now I can't enter Edit mode and therefore can't change anything. How do I enter edit mode from the presentation screen of a sub-patch??? I can't click on the background, because it is not visible in Presentation mode. Also toolbars are disabled. How can I send scripting commands to the sub-patcher to unlock the patch??? I have not found anything in the documentation. Please someone help!!!

It's great to see different tutorials about things I've learned. Good to refresh the memory after I took a Max MSP course last year in school. I enjoy the explanations and cleanliness of your projects. Makes it enjoyable to follow along. Keep it up :)

What can I do if oscillators produce constant sound even after adding an envelope? After pressing the "button" object or playing a note on the kslider the sound does not decay.

Hey excellent why of explaining, i only have one problem: when using sine or triangle i get problems with pops/clicks because de envelope cuts of in middle of the wave when i press a new key ( i think ) what would be a possible work around? Thanks!
@MUST1002
6 жыл бұрын
That's probably because a new envelope is being triggered with each note pressed. Polyphony would be a way to sort this out (covered in other tutorials I've done).

hey, if i want a preset for the thing as a whole, what do i connect it to? :)
@MUST1002
7 жыл бұрын
If you want the [preset] to control everything, don't connect it to anything. :) (You can use the third outlet of [preset] to connect to objects you _don't_ want included in the save.)

thanks very much! also (sorry for all the questions) but if i wanted to use my midi controller to control the midi input, how would i do this instead of a kslider? TIA
@MUST1002

Connect the left and centre outputs of a [notein] object (thru a [stripnote] object if you want to avoid note-off triggering) to the left and right inputs of the [kslider] object.

thank you very much!! works really well but when i play notes in a phrase, it makes a popping sound between each one, is this due to the envelope i've programmed?
@MUST1002
7 жыл бұрын
Very likely. You're triggering a new note before the envelope has completed. The only way to deal with this, really, is to institute polyphony (so that more than one sound (including its decay) can sound simultaneously). I will cover polyphony in Max7 in later tutorials; but if you want to see older versions that cover the same thing, have a look on the tutorials page at www.peterbatchelor.com.

Make sure you connect your synth output to a live.gain object (so it doesn't just send out at max volume) and then to an ezdac, or conversely make sure audio is turned on in the bottom right. Hopefully after 5 months you were able to figure this out lol but maybe that will help!

@@krisg2898 please explain again... why doesn't the guy in the tutorial explain how to make it sound? I did everything he said... got an exam tomorrow :((
@krisg2898

@@lorenzococcia8665 Make sure for 1 that the right audio output device is selected, 2. That you have the audio engine enabled by pressing the speaker button in the bottom right, 3. That there's a live.gain attached to whatever is supposed to make sound so that you can control the volume levels, and 4. That you have the gain connected to an ezdac to convert the digital signal to an analog one that goes to the speakers. You should see audio on your live.gain; if it's not turning green then the signal is cut off somewhere further up the chain. Hope that helps, good luck on the test :D
