Lopez actually does tire in the later rounds and he did so in about the 8th or 9th round of this fight. The thing is is that it’s for a short period of time. Maybe a round or two before he catches his second wind. So I agree that was a dumb game plan for Loma. Especially when you’re supposed the be the best thing since air. Loma does have great footwork but tbh his greatness is based off being a southpaw. They give 90% of boxers problems. If he was a traditional boxer he wouldn’t be half as great and his footwork would be negated.

Lopez won all 1-through-7 and the 12th round. The punching stats state that Lomachenko didn't start throwing double digits until the 8, 9, 10, and 11th rounds. But he didn't win all four rounds. They were going back and forth. Lopez still outpunched him, but due to bias and favoritism, people want to give Loma those rounds and the 3rd. The 3rd round when he threw that slick counter combo combination came late after Lopez dominated him. So that's what you call desperation round like the 8, 9, 10, and 11. Those rounds showed how desperate Lomachenko was because he came out trying to KO Lopez. He did stun Lopez but he didn't wobble him or drop him. Also, Lopez has a significant power difference! Lopez forced Loma back every time they exchanged!

Max I hear you but, what was Julie Lederman watching having 119-109 basically saying Lomachencko only won one round. Your kidding me. She should be banned for judging any top champion fights. This is the best that boxing can do. That's why UFC is smoking 🚬 them.
@RatatRatR
3 жыл бұрын
There's no way for a person who knows what they're watching to watch that fight and honestly report that they saw Lopez win 11 rounds. Julie Lederman is a good judge when she wants to be, and that leads me to conclude that she had some other priority that night.

After watching this fight, I have a lot more respect for Pacquiao now. Pac would take on larger opponents and everyone thought he was crazy. They said "no way he can take De la Hoya", No way he can take on Cotto or Margarito". Not only did he fight them, he fought them like he was the bigger man. Very offensive and fearless. Loma fought Lopez way too cautiously waiting for his opportunities. He's a great fighter, but he's going to have to fight more aggressively and take chances to fight the larger fighters. Always a pleasure to hear Max talk the fight game!

I 100 percent agree with Max. Rounds 1, 3-6, and 12 Lopez won hands down. Round 8-11 Loma won hands down and 2 and 7 could go either way. So anywhere from 6-6 to 8-4 woulda been acceptable. I rewatched the fight and could no way see how the female judge came up with 11-1.

1st Half - Teo landed a few punches here and there while Loma danced around him getting his timing down. 2nd Half - Loma stepped to that boy and pressed him hard almost stopped him. The rounds Loma won were way more dominant and damaging. Yet they rob the champion in a close fight. Looking at the cards literally the only way Loma couldve won was to stop him the NEW YORK judges already had their cards for Teo

It felt to me, a little at least, like Lomachenko walked into that ring expecting one thing and had no answer or ability to adjust, when Lopez gave him something else. Lopez didn't take too many steps backward BUT in his aggression and pressure didn't get wild and create opportunities for Loma to counter and create the angles he uses to get in positions to land that few other fighters can do. Lopez and his father crafted a beautiful strategy and never strayed from it, even in the 12th round when it was mano e mano. This was a coming out party for Lopez and a message that Loma probably needs to step back down to 126 or 130, even if Lopez moves up to 140.

Loma- Too little, too late. It's a boxing, not a chess game. Loma spent so much time in the amateurs, which is scored differently, that he needs to get his head more into pro boxing. Lopez- Kept up an aggressive pace while being smart defensively. A definite win! Congratulations, Champ!

Lopez medically rehydrated tp 147. Lomachenko was fighting a welterweight . Sugar Ray Robinson lost three times at middleweight when he was fighting above his natural size. Loma just needs to drop back down to 130, and a few quick easy fights will allow himto overcome his 14 month layoff.
@pimpindnice910
3 жыл бұрын
So basically you want Loma to drop back down so that HE can then go back to be much bigger than his opponents like much of his previous fights. Lopez wasn’t pushing him around the ring and imposing his will, Loma just outclassed. It wasn’t a pure brawl. Loma can’t fight going backwards and was overhyped. He’s a good fighter, but no where near as good as what mainstream boxing media would have you think

Round 1: Lomachenko was playing hopscotch Round 2: Lomachenko playing dodgeball Round 3: Someone in Lomachenko's corner told him it was a boxing match...but he still didn't believe it. Round 12: Lomachenko was gassed out--ironic because he thought that is what he was doing to Lopez. I bet on Lomachenko because I knew Las Vegas/judges would favor him but Lomachenko doing Ukranian dance the first half of the fight.
