The Speaker in this ad is the JBL L100 the most popular model of speakers JBL ever sold. I bought the PROfessional version of that 3-way speaker in 1977 for $900. It was the JBL 4311B WX Control Monitor. They were used in studios some costing $300,000 and to record great music by legendary artists from 1970's to 1990's and later. Mine is still in perfect original condition 44 years later and has withstood thousands of parties and some DJ events. That $900 it cost in 1977 was the price of a good used 5 year old car back then. All my cars since 1970s all died however that speaker lives on. The speaker in the basement in 'The 70s Show' with a white speaker cone that is a 2-way JBL model. JBL started the white woofer look and many others copied it, but couldn't copy their legendary sound.

The foam speaker grilles haven't deteriorated beyond repair yet?
@UncompressedWAVmusic
6 ай бұрын
@@xvilemx The glued on foam around the 1" tweeter on the JBL 4311 Control Monitor had shrunk somewhat, but were not a part of the tweeter so the effect on sound was very negligible if any. JBL foam surrounds for the tweeter were $10 on Amazon. You may be talking about the polypropylene surround on part of the bass driver/woofer. My 1979 JBL's woofers never deteriorated from 1979 because that have a surface that is laminated/coated with a white coating. Sometime in the 1980's JBL began to use polypropylene surrounds os part of the bass driver/woofer, which later completely deteriorated into black dust after 20 or more years and the woofer needed to be re-coned.
