Thank you for doing a longer trip carry on. I see a lot of 1 week, or those ultra minimalist nomads, but not the average woman going for more than 1 week. We're going 2.5 weeks. I love dresses when i travel, but i know they limited. I struggle with shoes because we typically are doing a lot of different activities. And did you put in a toiletry kit? I didn't notice
@PerriesPassport
Ай бұрын
Hi @TracyKMainwaring I figured that us gals needed a video about how much you can put into a carry-on and it's quite impressive with a little planning. Shoes are always the item that women struggle with, and I always say, is to pick ones that go with most of your items (that takes a bit of planning, which I usually do about a week before I pack) and I limit that to no more than two. I put my toiletry kit into my personal item bag always unless I am taking a budget airline where I am allowed only 1 bag. You can see me pack that out in several of my videos, depending on how big of a personal item bag I'm allowed.

You do the best videos! I'm going to be based in Salerno from mid-Oct thru mid-Nov...into more rain...Never have been there during a transitional season. I'm going to travel lite and if it gets very cold...I'll buy some stuff and ship it home, like I did when I worked in the UK years ago from Dec. -May. No big suitcases for me! And I never wear dresses and won't be at a beach....Fingers crossed I can fit it my European sized carry on! I just 1 Liter bags for liquids...it's a bit bigger than our 1 quart ziplocks. I looked at the EU rules and it is uniform ...total 1 Liter of liquids in any combination you want. Most of the bags people are showing on YT seem to be very big...perhaps they are getting through, but I"m not messing around.

@@PerriesPassport first off, I have to bring a checked bag as I bring camping gear. They do provide tents for rent also for those that want, but I go to another music festival in the UK the following weekend so I just schlep my gear. For basic clothing I pack super minimal as I might buy something along the way, plus I bring means to launder my clothing. For costumes this year I have a plain linen-like chemise and a couple over aprons. I also have a fancier fine lady's dress I bought there 2 yrs ago. The other festival is mainly folk/celtic music so has kind of a hippie vibe, so one can wear whatever. I have this great thing I found last year called a Honcho Poncho which is a puffy poncho that can stuff into its pocket and it doubles as a quilt/duvet. I use packing cubes to organize. Lots of pouches too. I'm still darling in what is going in my carry-on. I'm trying the Osprey Fairview for the first time. I just wanted to have something with a hip belt as I have to trek around train stations and the like. I'm also dialing in my flight comfort pouch - I am following your idea and got one of those tote bag inserts. I just thought it was a brilliant idea! But no matter where you go, I believe in laying out all the things you want to bring, lay it all out, and try to pack it. Then adjust as needed. Also pay attention to weather forecasts for your destination(s). And yes, wear some of your bulkier things on the plane if you can. I really like that outfit you picked out!

@@peggywoods4327 Impressive amount of stuff you are taking with you. I did Glastonbury a few years back, but I didn't stay on the grounds. @@PerriesPassport you did Glastonbury?! Awesome! I've been going to a smaller one, off & on since '87. I started camping on site in '12. I used to do it with a full size backpack for my gear. I struggled 2 years ago and the weather was way warmer than usual, so I switched to a wheeled bag last year. I'm 64 now, so I deserve the break 😉 So that suit is Athleta? I haven't shopped with them in a few years... In the past I also loved Travelsmith, but they are pretty much defunct now :(😞 It's too late for me to shop for this trip, but I will Definitely check on that as I have a couple cruises planned for next year and that outfit would be just the ticket.

@@PerriesPassport no glitch when I watched the video. I typically go to Ireland for a few weeks each year and I am definitely a minimalist. But, I’m lucky enough to stay at an apartment that has a washer/dryer. I’m definitely an advocate of packing cubes. I don’t know why some folks don’t like them. It just helps me keep very organized and for me, when you pack minimally, you need to be very organized. But that’s me. I’m sure everyone is different 😃. @@PerriesPassport a little quick tip that I’ve used for many many years (since I’m short) - I use a cheap small blowup beach ball. I only blow it up a little to rest my feet on (it seems to inflate more with altitude). Also you can just put a puff of air in it and put it behind your back if your back starts to ache. And when you get to your destination, you can always toss it around for a little bit of exercise😆. I have several beach balls I bought at end of season sales for $.50 each. 😉

Forgive me if i missed it in the video, but it seems like your suitcase is very filled with all clothes -- but how do you also fit your haircare/skincare/toiletries in the same suitcase? @PerriesPassport

@@mandiwolfe6631 I usually put all my hair products into my personal item bag along with my make up. My daughter has very curly/frizzy hair and she has an issue with hair products too. I guess you could forfeit some of the clothing that I rolled and put into the bag and use that space for more product but then you would have to check the bag., which I try to avoid to do. How much hair product do you need and can you purchase it at your place of destination? I usually bring with me a international foldable hairdryer made by Revlon, which is fantastic and my international hair straightener because I have frizzy hair too and I put that all into my personal bag

Hi Perrie, Nice demonstration of packing a carry-on bag. Could you tell me the size of your carry-on bag? I am finding the size requirements of all the airlines confusing. As I mentioned last week, I’m planning my first trip to Ireland, and I purchased several new pieces of luggage, but Aer Lingus seems to have smaller carry-on requirements. What do you recommend?
@PerriesPassport
Ай бұрын
Hi @mbwelsh65 So I just checked Aer Lingus and I am assuming you paid for your carry-on, or it was included in your ticket price. They have a 10K limit or 22lbs (btw, don't pack more than 21.5 to be safe). So you would have to cut down on some of the stuff that I packed. Here are a few tips. Wear your heavist clothing onto the flight. The actual bag size is pretty standard. The personal item bag is 10X13X8 which last weeks bag should get or you could look around for a deeper bag, but those dimensions are a bit odd (kind of a deep rectangle).

thx for sharing, but... it is totally not true that in Europe people do not wear cargo or hawaiian or others like shorts, it does not make sense at all to say that. But - you have to know WHERE to wear what kind of clothes. You do not go to a church in hawaiian or open shoulder or short pants etc. , even if you are visiting it as a museum. If you are in city center of course there are people who do office job around you and they are clothed for work , but it does not mean they do not wear Leisure clothes at their free time. Just take care, in what location you go and dress appropriate.

Hi @mariakern6793 I didn't say that they didn't wear shorts. I said they don't wear cargo shorts, which is just something they don't have (except in the UK and Ireland)...
