Hi Nicole🌺 . I enjoyed this beautiful tour at your front garden it looks stunning .I have tree colors from the beautiful balloon flower the purple the white and the pink . The pretty gardenia you can add to it iron also too much or to little water leads to yellowing of the leaves also to much fertilization leads to the flowers falling . Have a wonderful day . 🌺🌻🌺

Thank you for your suggestions on the gardenia! I have a feeling too little water was the issue (though this week the rain is catching up with us). I love that you have 3 colors of balloon flowers! 💜😁 Thanks for your message!

Beautiful work and I know you love it, I do mine to. We have some of the same plants as you, gotta love lantana with its showy flowers. My Amarillo lilies just finished up and they were beautiful. I enjoyed your garden videos and the aerial view with all the curves amazing. Until next time have a good weekend.

Nicole, I get so much inspiration from all your beautiful gardens. We’re in the same zone, but I’m in Texas. I’m going to look for the golden sword yucca today! Your cannas….do they come back for you?

Beautiful Garden! You have inspired me to plant more Cannas and Lilies in my garden. I also have a Diamond Spire Gardenia and I am having the same problem. I have a bigger well established August Beauty Gardenia with big blooms and while they don't yellow as fast as the Diamond spire, the heat eventually turns the flowers into a crips. Sad but this seems to be a problem with gardenias.
@mycarolinagarden

Thank you so much for this message. Ugh, that's disappointing about the gardenia. Certainly nothing we can do about the heat, though I'm tempted to move one of my shrubs (I have 2 identical ones) to a more protected spot to see what happens. Lilies and cannas are such awesome spreaders and so showy, I hope your garden looks amazing with whatever you add! 💚

Im in Sanford NC zone 7 Here are some things i would do with the gardenia. Make sure it only gets morning sun not afternoon sun A product called Ironite adds extra iron to plant which the plant might not be getting if the ph of soil is on the alkaline side. Gardenias like acidic soil you can get your soil tested at your county extension office for a small fee Another thing you can do is use a fertilizer that says on front for plants that like acidic soil like azaleas camellias and gardenias This should help the yellow leaves. Last you might want to google a gardenia called daisy gardenia The old blooms turn yellow instead of brown which is more preferable. I would love to know the name of the evergreen verbena

Thank you - This was great info!! I guess I better move it because it is in fact getting afternoon sun. I appreciate your knowledge about iron, also, so I'll look into it. Definitely want the shrub to be happy. 💚

You have artistic talent in balancing your form and texture 👍🏻. The rocks…the grasses….the shrub forms…..well done! If you can see your garden in black and white (hello, digital camera adjustments!) and the garden STILL looks good…..then you are a design master!. (You’re there!). Then add the color …. Shazam! Gorgeous and vibrant use of complementary colors ❤ Your mulch choice makes me a bit sad. The black contrast DOES make the garden colors pop. Tho, why not use a compost or shredded mulch that breaks down to feed the soil? BTW, my hat is off to you with that weed-free garden! I’m in the Raleigh area and our weeds are relentless. How do they grow so FAST? I love love love the orange day lilies! I’ve heard people pooh-pooh them as being “too common”. Heck no - what a great slash of exuberant color! Your garden tour has been a delight to watch (I’m only a few minutes in, 🤣), thank you for posting this. Continued good luck with your horticultural masterpiece!
