It is good to see people of integrity, like Joe and others, stepping forward, to fill the gap in society created by greed and globalization. Ireland, more than at any time before, needs local heroes!

Joe watching this 8 years later I would say thank you for a brilliant words as the lovely new age uses for such a strong Moral Compass It’s inconceivable that this is going on in this age and for one moment to the trolls who write the vicious comments I believe in paying your way ,but in some circumstances that is not always possible and unfortunately the major credit institutions seem to prefer confrontation to consultation and Joe one day I might pop in for a cool beer Aussie style

Just to clarify this land was not bought in the boom nor are the tax payers expected to pay for it. If you do not know the actual story here then don't comment as this is not a man that deserves that kind of abuse. If the banks agreed to meet the middle class people instead of agreeing to sly deals with those in government ect. then we would not have problems like this.

Let me guess, the local lad thought it'd be a great idea to speculate in property and put the farm up as security. Now he wants the taxpayer to pay his debts

Let me guess. Someone is not able to pay for some land they bought during septic tiger times and it was repossessed? But the locals are doing their best not to facilitate the auction? Don't see the problem. If they can't afford to pay, it should be repossessed like the thousands of others in the country. But this being ireland it appears repossessions are not happening. The middle class guy pays again.
