She plays the banjo better than most pickers today. They want to be so loud it destroys the true sound. When they have a band their banjo drowns the other instruments out

It’s a travesty that The Carter Family is not a part of the Country Music Hall of Fame, what a shame

The Carter Family was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1970, making Sara and Mother Maybelle the first women so honored. There have been several 'Queens" of Country Music: Mother Maybelle is the Empress!

She has a hauntingly beautiful voice. The Motherless child, the orphan, the Mama.

She plays plenty of Carter-scratch guitar on this album, in addition to some nice autoharp breaks. And her daughters join in on some songs with vocals.

Great harp and guitar. Love it. Has anyone noticed the black & white picture here. The negative was turned over. Makes it look like a left handed harp
